  • Running rich

I have a 91 gtr and just recently an exhaust leak is coming from back right side of motor. Im thinking maybe dump pipe but not to sure. Over time the leak seems to be getting louder and louder and my car is starting to run really rich and has a hard time idling. I noticed that there is an o2 sensor just after the leak area, could this be the running rich problem i am having, if so how hard is it to change dump pipes if thats the problem.

    thanks

    I would say yes.

From what I understand, o2 sensor measures how much oxygen is inside exhaust, hence why it's called o2 sensor. If engine runs very lean or get a exhaust leak (allows more oxygen into exhaust), 02 sensor voltage sets off the rich trigger setting for o2 sensor on ECU and engine runs rich.

But I think because GTR has 2x o2 sensors, ECU finds the middle ground / voltage between 2x o2 sensors.

Yea there dont seem to be much room under the hood lol u got any tips on how to change the gaskets. Is it possiable to do from under the car. Also if im already got the exhaust out would switching to after market dumps be a decent mod.
