  • Bee Rev Limiter - Good Bad or Ugly ????

Just got a Bee Rev Limiter,,,

read bad things ,, explosions near the turb,,, rockers, etc..

good things,, igintion cut at RPM limit is better than fuel cut off,,,, pyro's only happen at exhasut tip when extra fuel hits Oxygen....???

So ,,,, is it good ,,, bad ????

My intention was to install as preventive maintenace,, not to be Brian O'Conner,,, (fast and furious)

    thx !!!

its main purpose is a 2 step launch controller, not a fire shooter. lol

I'm not entirely convinced Bee R would make something that would damage your car.. they're a pretty good shop.

      What makes you think this?

Lots of people buy these and set them up to shoot flames. You will see a correlation between that and people coughing exhaust wheels. I personally wouldn't do it this way but there are plenty of people who use this unit just fine.

How is this item for preventative maintenance?

        prevents me from causing maintenance

sometimes I get a little giddy with the gas pedal and ignore the red section in the tach

Red baaaad. Keep it in the black :P

I'm curious about this as well. Seems like a good thing to have, yet at the same time, heard some negative things as well

I don't know the details, but my impression is that it's intended as a boost builder for launching the car. I'd imagine it would be pretty hard on the exhaust side of the turbo, and if you have a catalytic converter you won't have one for long with the rev limiter on :P

My theory : Fuel cut limiter may cause engine to lean out and det. Spark cut won't cause AFR to lean out.

^I understand your logic. However let me explain, for launch control/anti lag/2 step/whatever, fuel cut does NOT cause lean out. They cut ALL fuel to a certain cylinder(I would imagine it is random, and changes each revolution). Your AFR gauge will read lean simply because a cylinder(s) is acting as an air pump, not because the engine is running lean. Fuel cut does not generate much heat/energy so it isn't the best for spooling a turbo.

Ignition cut is very aggressive and while it can spool a turbo fast it is hard on them.

Most ECU's you can now have the option now of having a ignition/fuel cut combination. From my experimenting this works good. You can use IGN cut to get the turbo spooling quick but bring on %fuel cut once boost target is hit.

                My opinion:
This Bee-r works great for some people but I would not use it on factory turbo. IGN cut creates lots of heat.

well if you're serious about selling, Ill offer you $150... theres about 8 people on skylineowners.com selling the rev limiters for $200... so if its a good deal. I'll take it, PM me, if its too low of an offer, than thats cool to. best of luck!

So using the Bee*R unit wont blow the oil pump? I know if you have a stock GTR and revving in to the 8000RPM section it can cause the oil pump to fail and lead to other failures. Now, if you limit the Bee*R too like 4000, 5000RPM would it still cause the oil pump to fail?

the reason oil pumps fail is due to how agressive the limiter is. Its changing rpm so fast it just beats the hell out of oil pumps , Factory limiters are far far smoother hense this is never an issue

okay,, is there any way to configure the BEE rev limiter to let it do it's job,,, limit the revs... but at the same time keeping the enigne safe,,, (no explosions,, no flames,,, etc... )...

nope, the Bee*R is an ignition cut limiter, they are designed to make power and stop rpm's dead in it's tracks. No matter what its a very agressive limiter. Best limiter is the stock one.
