  • Nismo clutch slave for $25

Hey guys. After needing a clutch slave for my rb26 I sourced a cheap alternative to the nismo unit.
Beck Arnley part 0727909 (readily available at Lordco for $25)
All you need to do is drill out the mounting holes slightly. Its a 13/16 cylinder which is the same as the Nismo unit.
Just bolted it on and it works perfectly, pedal pressure is very light.
The rod may need shortening if you are using a twin disc unit like my OSgiken.

Thats good to know. RB26/RB25 ones were always hard to get in a pinch. Nice to have something easily available!

Yep, and on top of that Nismo one is like $180 which is ridiculous.

Because the cylinder measures to 13/16
Oem is 3/4, nismo is 13/16

Yeah, I know what you mean. But for $25 im willing to take the risk! PLus if it ever leaks ill just throw new seals in it. Beckarnley usually makes some decent stuff never had problems with them.
Perhaps you can source a higher quality unit for a bit more for the same application.

So will this work in my RB25 R33? And what are the added benefits of this over stock?

Yea I believe r33 rb25 uses same as gtr, two holes on bottom of slave.
                      Benefits are reduced pedal pressure
Downsides are less slave travel, meaning your clutch will engage sooner but a master adjustment should cure it.
In my case I got it because I needed something to get my car back on the road
The reduced pedal pressure was just a bonus

                        Do not use this slave...
Once you drill out the holes and bolt to the trany, the body of the slave hits the trans and will break the mounting tabs off. Tried 2 of them and both broke on RB25 tranny.
Wish I had a picture but they went right into the garbage and then I purchased the Nismo.

Did you try using washers between the tranny and slave?

I just had a quick peek at mine. I loosened the bolts and was able to move the slave back and forth against the tranny housing. Looks like adequate clearance to me.
I threw two washers in there for the hell of it.
Remeber, this is not the same slave thats been mentioned on nicoclub and the like. They are referring to this one: http://www.amazon.com/Beck-Arnley-07.../dp/B000CB11IC

This one is UNSUITABLE to use since when you drill the holes out the mounting taps become very thin around the hole. (I belive togue racing was at one point selling this one fro $80) The one that I mentioned has plenty of "meat" around the hole, so when it is drilled out the strength remains. Here is a picture of the two to illustrate the difference.
                          Mine is still working flawlessly.

                          The incorrect one:

Any update on this slave, is it worth buying it? I mean 25$ is not a big loss but still..

Nismoparts sell the nismo one for 140 but I mean.. 25$ over 140 is still an uber-bargain!

For $100 bucks is it really worth it? Might as well do it 100% from the get go! Personally I have no experience with this product but OEM is always reliable!
