  • Rear Defrost

I tried using the rear defrost in my R32 GTS-T and the orange light from the button turned on but the rear window didn't defrost so i went to the back seat and tried to find the wires that should be soldered to the glass but couldn't find any. Does anybody know where they should be positioned on the glass and where the wires come from?

I think it is connected on corner of window (can't remember which side). Like someone on here mentioned before, make sure none of the parts on window are broken.

The rear defrost solders are in 2 locations on the passenger side of the vehicle. With the moulding off you'll see one at the top, about 5 inches down, and one at the bottom about 5 inches up. There are small connectors to these.

If these are fine, there is a defrost voltage regulator in the trunk which acts as a relay to summon power to the window, and to trigger an 'off' in the event it's been on for prolonged periods of time (Reached a certain heat point).

In the trunk on the passenger side, reach in to where the jack mounts are and up inside on the right you'll find this box. Check the wires going to and from (one is a 16(? i think) awg wire, Blue with red trace. This is the 12v feed for the wire.). If these are also fine, check the fuse.

If all that is fine, you can rule out that the relay in the trunk is no longer good and should try to find a replacement or find someone with one working and swap it in to see.

This happens with the fuel pump voltage regulator on the other side of the trunk. Both of these units tend to go in time.
