Its the illumination lead, its so your gauges lightup when you turn on your headlights.Proud owner of the 2nd Skyline and the only GTR on the island!

Mine is wired up to ignition. So when key is in "On" position, they come on. Same as rest of interior lights
You could even wire it up to its own switch if you wanted, so you could turn them on and off as you please.sigpic
