  • Head Light Wiring and switches.

    Hey All,

First off i know another headlight thread was started today, but this is a different issue.

I am having inconsistent problems with my headlights, highbeams and signals. when i got the car the passengers headlight was out, as well as the fog light. I got some HC3 bulbs to replace them and they worked for a day before one went out then the other. bulbs are still fine and all. The fog lights work no problems. but the headlights dont work at all, the fuses are fine.

today i was driving and my left turn signal started flashing really quick on the cluster ( means a bulb is out usually) but then the next time i put it on it worked fine. it works when it wants to.

When i started the car the one high beam went out, then randomly started working again. on my drive home

seems like ive uncovered a huge wiring issue

I am a wiring noob, so i was wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem and it turned out to be a relay or the dash switch. Also if any one has a higher quality wiring diagram, or a link to one that would be helpful. Ive searched but everything is all pixilated. The car is a R32 gtst.

Please help me get these wiring gremlins out of my car so i can go on night cruises

I had a problem with my headlights and ended up tracing the entire circuit, there are some simple steps to confirm what works, the high beams go thru a relay inside the engine bay and can be tested by placing a wire to power them up with the relay out, all other tests can be done at the steering column and dash. If you need help just let me know..

You can start by checking the connector at the steering column for voltage from the dash switch, you can also test the complete light individually from the column both hi/low . If you can get the lights to work off of the hi/low switch then it should just be the dash switch. If might only have to be cleaned, the switch can be taken apart and cleaned by using a pink eraser ( sounds weird ) but it doesn't destroy the contact.

its probally the dash switch, mine went on me twice already. You can take it out and clean out the connecters as mine was rusty and melted as F***
