Nissan dealerships uses a pliers type cutting tool to cut the GT-R keys. They need the 4 digit number so they could look up the code in the "black book" so they could locate the proper dial for the key cutting tool. I hope this makes sense as I watched the guy snip the key in front of me!

No one in my city will cut my spare GTR key.. I guess the keys made out of stainless steel and it will wreck their machines if they cut it. I still have the original numbered key for my car so im gonna try Nissan next i guess and see if they can either cut it, or get me one thats already cut.

When I wanted my key cut, I went to the Nissan Dealership. The Asked for a code and I said I dont know what it is, and even if I did, he might not have it in the system since the car is Japanese. He said Oh ok, I can do a trace cut. I said sure. It worked perfectly. No troubles with the key at all. And he didnt even charge me!1991 Silver Skyline R32 GT-R - SOLD You will be sorely missed girl :'(

for me the guy had to look at a code book, then he couldn't find anything till he realises he needed to look at the black book aka JDM code one...found and verified the code for the key cutting tool dial then voila!Originally posted by aN4rk1 View PostWhen I wanted my key cut, I went to the Nissan Dealership.
