  • Reytec / Tomei ECU

    Hi Guys

Been a while since i looked for advice so here goes .

I have a brand new power FC to install this year to replace my Essential nerve ECU my r33 GTR came with from Japan - HOWEVER , been looking at the Reytec system . It is a map system , does not need the existing MAFS or oxygen sensors , comes pretty much plugin and just some minor tweaks to get running for oversized injectors , poncams etc etc , and comes with computer software and a manual that explains how it all works . I downloaded the instructions and it looks like a better option which leads me to the question - who has used one ? and how did it perform ?

The reasoning is the Map setup , it means I can lose my maxed out factory maf setup instead of paying alot for nismo mafs or modifying for Z32 mafs , I already have the required wideband O2 in place , and im not afraid of the tuning myself.

I have a greddy suction kit that i plan to remove and want to use an ARC like FIlter Box and suction kit that im fabbing myself.

    Anyone have an opinion ?

I'm assuming you have the L jetro PFC?
The D jetro is MAP, not MAF
I have the r33 gtr PFC with a few pins modified to work on my GTS t.
It's a bread and butter standalone system. Pretty easy to use and somewhat basic
There is more advanced systems (haltec, motec, hks fcon)
It's been successful for me and many others
Just depends how far you want to take it

I know the member Luckygtr had one for sale while ago for dirt cheap.Im pretty sure he bought the car with it installed and he swapped it for an aem or pfc I can't remember exactly.Might want to PM him.
My car keeps on stealing my money .

yea he was selling it for like 500 bucks i think. the reytec is good and if you can tune yourself even better. but i gotta say i like my powerfc djetro for the simplicity of it. i also grabbed it because of the local tuners available. although i do wish it had more features. mainly launch control....

Thanks for the input guys , i like the idea of ditching the MAFS and the o2 sensors , makes thing alot simpler . I googled the Reytec and there were a few complaints about the software being in Japanese only ( not my strongest language ) , so im hoping someone can give me some feed back on their experiences .

A new Reytec is cheaper than the Power FC L-jetro unit i have if i take into consideration I have to replace the factory Mafs with something better. Nismo ones were around the $1000 mark for a pair .

I might sell the unopened PowerFC and go for the Reytec , gotta do a bit more research before my final decision.

Why not just get two used Z32 MAFs (100$ ea) and Tomei Pigtails ($30 ea)? Were your Trust pipes for stock MAFs or Z32 MAfs? If they were the latter they would have already come with pigtails. I think this would easily handle your airflow plus would be a lot easier to tune than a MAP based setup.

My trust pipes were for stock sized mafs - im thinking more and more the reytec unit depending on what the tuning software looks like that comes wit it , i was hoping that maybe someone could talk from experience and maybe even throw me a few screen shots of the software

Not much different to Nistune with 16x16 maps, but has MAP sensor, IAT sensor.

Can play with online demo -

Hey Jon. I thought the Power FC has launch control. You just have to set the 0km/hr Rev limit. Am I right or wrong?
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... Lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

I'd get rid of the MAF's. I haven't used the Raytec ECU, but love the ViPEC. It just works - no drama, no problems, just drive.

never heard/seen of the pfc having launch control....no anti lag. no power builder off the line. pfc is old technology but cheap and tuners are readily avaliable. i might be switching to a link g4 extreme tho. the reytec is nice too.

There is a version of the PFC that is called the PRO version, this version has ignition cut and not fuel cut. This version does give you the option to set a rev limit when speed is 0 km/h, then when you start moving the rev limit goes back where ever you usually have it.

There has been a lot of talk about how to know if you have one or not. And no the PRO on the side of it does not mean you have one. lol The best way is to check the internal, and even then it's still a hit and miss. For reason that escape me, there has even been talk about PRO version that had been reflashed to regular version, why anyone would do this is beyond me. And because the PRO version can be reflashed to the regular version, yes it does mean that the regular version can be reflashed to the PRO version. Unfortunately this does not mean that it will work, it will merely add the fonction on your controller and do NOTHING.

                          Hope this help

BTW cortexx did you get to play with Copilot for the Power FC ?

And not sure why no one suggested Haltech, but would seriously consider it if you want to tune yourself.

I havn't even taken the powerfc or the commander unit out of the box yet , i have played with the copilot but not used it live , seems like a straight forward tool for sure , the autotune feature looks intriguing.

I havn't made the decision yet , there is not rush atm , have the whole winter to get it done , the upgrades and mods i have to install wont take much more than a week to complete so ill spend the time to research it all .

Haltech is another ill give a close look . I'm really leaning towards a MAP setup due to it's simplicity and reliability so far . On paper it really looks like the more solid system.

Haltec is the way to go for our cars.
Can load various maps, much more intelligent.
About twice the price of the PFC but all up to you
I have a bee R rev limiter which is good for building boost for launch and bangin around off the rev limiter
