  • R33 GTR battery dimension / suggestions

Does anyone know the dimensions? Or even a specific brand and model that some of you guys used to replace the original. As I'm already preparing a checklist to get the car out of storage.

I'm leaning on Optima Red Top brand, but just don't' know the exact model.

Furthermore, is there anything I should be worried about when I first start it up from it's winter slumber?

    Thanks in advance,

Do u have the model type or number by chance? cause I'm not too sure the exact size of the battery. i can't go and check myself cause it's in storage at the moment.

and u have a 33GTR as well right?

Optima red top is what I have. If you are replacing the jdm battery you will need a new battery lead as well as the terminals are bigger, Crappy Tire has them.

Honda civic battery's have same jdm sized terminals, not exactly sure wat year.

I assume the 33 gtr have the battery in the trunk as well. So you have limited space to work with.

          Personally I wouldn't spend $200 on a optima battery...

Yes, you're going to have to get larger leads for the ground. . .I just expanded the positive lead a little and it worked no problem, but for the ground I used a different bolt. . .

I would. . .I just finished a 3000km roadtrip to Yellowknife and back. . .-50 temps. . .the car started no problems with no block heater or battery blanket. . .left the lights on overnight one night. . .still fired up, drove it around town and it's still good. . .i ******* love these batteries. . .

I've had my redtop for 3 years in storage. Installed few months ago in my R33 and it fired it up with no issues.

I've heard some horror stories regarding Optima batteries, but it looks like everyone in this thread hasn't had any trouble, so.... Yeah.

Look into Deka batteries, they make batteries for Braille.
