Doesn't have to be a fully built car. Just have to fit a decent oilcooler setup (engine, turbo's use the same oil), intake, full exhaust, ECU tune. For better reliability, R33 or R34 N1 turbo's (no ceramic exhaust wheels), 600cc injectors, 300lph or so fuelpump, Z32 MAF x2 with Z32 MAF plugs to suit.

Most seem to get upset with tune from piggyback and end up fitting a standalone. Nistune + R32 GTR ECU, R32 GTR o2 sensors is quite cheap to buy and saves buying a boost controller. Also don't need to tune engine straight away, as can use the maps, tables, etc off your cars stock ECU (can download them before fitting Nistune + R32 GTR ECU).

Don't waste your money on E-manage, it's bunk. With a MAF based system that the Skylines have you are safe untill you hit the limits of the stock MAFs regardless of boost pressure. That could be at 1.2 bar with a min. of bolt-ons or could be .8 bar with a bunch of bolt-ons (intakes, full large exhaust, cams...whatever frees up airflow in the system). Use a MBC and keep an eye on afrs at the limit and adjust you boost pressure to suit.

The best bang for the buck is a socketed ECU, Nis-tune and Z32 MAFs. You can go to mid 500s hp with that and have nice safe AFRs. Canadian fuel is pretty good, you don't need to worry too much. I run most of a Jap tune in my car with only Cheveron 94 up to about 1.2 bar at 32 deg. of ignition timing. In my car that's in the range of 600hp.

I realize that the emanage isn't the best situation, but I already own one. I want to put a power FC in, but right now I have some more priorities such as my tires, which will be the first big purchase of 2012. I know the R32 ecu is a good bang for the buck, but by the time you change the o2 sensors, and the Nistune cable, I might as well just buy the power fc, and an AVC-r.

Really the goal is to run the car a 1 bar, with decent timing and fuel curves. I would love to go big budget this year, but I have to save for my wedding in August, so the future wife is gonna put the kybosh on any big purchases, plus I promised her a new set of 20's and mudders for the hemi cherokee this year.

What is the main reason people are against the emanage for simply upping the boost and ajusting a/f and timing anyway?

Oh, ok, I get your situation. Sometimes it's better to put it off to a later date until you can do it properly. I've learnt that lesson the hard way with a few things on my car that I cut corners with and had to end up redoing. I know it can be frustrating waiting, but can do more research into what you want from a ECU and should be happy with result's.

Being a piggyback ECU on the back of stock ECU. It's dependant on stock ECU behaving itself, as stock ECU can pull ignition timing if engine knocks or get excessive noise from something banging on engine, ignition missing, etc. When tuning stock ECU you can turn knock control, etc off to get a good tune, more hp.

wouldn't turning off the knock sensor be bad? My main goal is to tune the car for Canadian gas, and ensure good a/f with slightly more boost.
