heating up the bolt will make it expand, yes but when it cools down it will shrink and when you heat it up the tread lock will burn out making it easer to remove.

I think you heat the bolt cause the bolt might be seized and heat cycling the bolt might help free it

DO NOT THREADLOCK your crank bolt...

Oil and the recommended torque spec only! I've never seen a crankbolt "come loose" once this procedure is followed properly.

ppl need to stop spreading BS on web... OIL, NOT threadlocker!

^^X2. Besides they are self tightening, no thread lock required.

^ aren't Hondas the ones that self tighten cause apparently the crank spins counterclockwise

when you google crank pulley stuck, the first 3 pages are of honda mills

In all honesty, if your torquing a bolt to 350ftlb+ there isnt much chance of rotational forces untightening it. If people have their balancers falling off, they aren't doing something right. Put it this way, if our balancers have stayed on for 20 years and are still a b*tch to get off, i would say its fastening methods are working.

Personally I would buy a new bolt when re-assembling, but i know thats up for debate.

so J.Goncalves and i got the bolt off no problem, here is our issue. we have a pulley remover and we threaded the bolts into the small holes on the balancer. then with the pulley remover we began to try and remove the balancer. nothing happened... we tried it with the main bolt back in but loose to give the pulley some room to move but still the pulley wouldnt move!!! please help!

                  thanks
