  • Aluminum Polish Suggestions

I bought a set of polished aluminum wheels and they have a few scratches around the outer rim. I tried the Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish but all it seemed to do was shine them up pretty well. Does anyone have any suggestions for a polish or compound that will remove the scratches?

rub some metal polish if the towel turn black. it's bare metal. if it,s white, it's clear coated.

You gonna have to wet-sand at 1500-2000 depending on scratches, up to I would say 3000, using criss-cross pattern. Then you need a POWERFUL drill with a wool cutting sphere pad with some black and greend compound. then you can finish off with some rouge and then metal polish..

you see, you need at least 60$ in material + about 3-4hrs per wheel. be ready.

I have two sets of these Modena in 17 inch and they are polished lip and not clean coated. The interesting part is that the set that came with my GTR has diamond cut lips (very fine grooves) and my spare set has polished lips. I have air tools and a 5 hp compressor and I used nylon grinding pads to remove the groves on my original set first, next I used nylon sanding pads from 3m with medium then fine. After that I used a polishing kit and finish off with Mother's wheel polish.

was like 15 bucks. well worth it. for any large scratches i just sanded with a fine grit then polished it out. was very easy.
