  • Skyline R32 GTR 1991 / lean and fuel problem

    Hi,

I just change my fuel pump and fuel filter but doesn't resolved my problem yet...

I got 12v on the fuel pump when the engine is started.

    I have the oem bov.

When i tap the gaz pedal at the idle, the car shutdown.

If i run my car, the a/f ratio is lean and the exhaust make a puff sound like exhaustsputtering.

My spark plug gap is at 0.8mm

I think this is a problem with the fuel system or maybe the bov still block...

    Do you have an idea?

Are you 100% sure it's the fuel that's the issue?

Assuming your gauge is aftermarket, If it isn't a wideband I wouldn't fully trust the results your gauge is giving you.

      My tips
      Like GTRADDICT said, clean MAF
      Injector cleaner

I'm not sure if the rb series engines have this or not, but possibly check your fuel pressure at the fuel line? I've considered doing it myself, but never really got into it. If I remember correctly, there is a little nub or port you can screw a pressure unit into it.

I don't know much, but maybe this will help

Ok thanks for the tips, i will check my MAF and cleaned it.

For my a/f, this is a wideband innovate recently installed.

        I will keep you updated.

        Thanks

          Ahh, Goodluck!

Can anyone verify what I said about the fuel line? This would be a test I'd like to do myself, I'm having my engine misfire at full throttle at high rpms but at half throttle + high rpms it doesn't.

PS - I love your signature, my gts rims say that! (I'm not sure if all do)

Funny I have a similar issue at full throttle high rpms like 5500 or so but not at like part throttle.

Yes at the fuel line you have a FPR.

I think your problem sound like your spark plug.

Do you run stock boost? If not, you need to regappe your plugs with a smaller gap.

could an injector leak (one of the grommets on the injector) cause this?

This is a VERY helpful thread for you guys chasing high RPM misfires and hesitation. Good luck, I still haven't tracked mine down after a year of dealing with it...

Finally, i have cleaned the MAF and trow a seafoam into the tank to clean the injectors and i got the same problem again.

You can see my video to check the real problem, sorry the video is in french...

You can hear the brrr brrr brrr in the exhaust... and after this, the car stall at the idle. When we hear the lound sound, the A/F Ratio is 21.9... very lean... no gaz...

On the video am with the stock boost, 8 psi and sometime the car stall at the idl if i touch anything.

                            Anyone have an idea?

Do you know if you have only 12v on the fuel pump they can doing this problem? in case the voltage drop once time, the engine doesn't receive enough gaz to run and stall or have a difficulty to run smootly?

I plane to change the wiring this week do you have an DIY or it's pretty esay to do?

                              Finally, problem was solved.

The problem come from the connection of the MAF.

I just cleaned the connection to release maybe the oxydation on the contacts and put an electric grease.

                              Thanks!
