  • Quick technical question about the RB26 MAFs

    Hey guys,

I took the MAFs off my GTR to clean them and I noticed that the top one has what looks like two pitot tubes right above the sensor filaments. The bottom MAF doesn't have that feature. I also noticed that the corresponding connector to the top one has an extra orange wire going to it.

Just wanted to know what it's for and if they're really location specific, for the sake of engineering interest.

I think that is the IAT (Inlet Air Temp) part of MAF. MAF usually has a hot wire, IAT part next to hotwire. Some MAF's have IAT, some don't. I know RB26 ECU looks at a IAT sensor. IAT is so ECU can compensate for extreme hot or cold days (2x maps, one for cold, one for hot).
