  • R33 Series 1 AC questions (service ports)

When I got my R33 there was no AC Compressor, everything else was there. I got a compressor and had it rebuilt, I got a new receiver dryer (S14 Kouki the same), and o rings. So with everything oiled and ready to go I took it in to get vacuumed down and dried and gassed but the service shop could not hook up to it because the fitting were nothing he had worked with. I did some searching and JDM fittings do vary on these to North American fittings.

So my question is how did you overcome this issue when charging or servicing the system? Do they sell a conversion fitting kind of like the old R12 to R134a? Or do I just have to hack them off and do weld on fittings?

The system is good to go, just looking to finish it up, all help appreciated.

    Edit this is a GTS-25T M

Just gassed mine up and it's fantastic in my 95 gtst

U sure youre trying to put it om the right side? There's 2 sides to the system.. The high side is the big hookup and the low side - which is closer to the firewall and a little deeper is a smaller hook up and that's the one you wanna hook up to..

2 cans filled me up and I've had to drive with mittens and a touque on ever since

It's a 1993 GTS25T R33 model which I believe is the first year for R134 in the skylines. The shop I brought to to charge it is a legit shop with the snap AC machine. I'll grab some pics, but they had nothing that fit it.

Well thats odd, thought r134 only had the two sizes of hook ups for the high and low side, should be a quick connect coupler then you screw it in to depress the schraeder valve to actually tap into the system, dont see why yours wouldn't have this... only way you would i could see you having different fittings would be if it was originally an r12 system that was not converted properly...

Looks like r12 as r134 will have the Low pressure port smaller than the high pressure port. Anyways, you want the one with the L for filling.

From what I have read is that both R134a and R12 should have a larger and a smaller fitting. Where these look the same.

The weird part is the factory condensor has R134a on the Nissan label, as well as the origional reciever / dryer which is identical to the replacement one I just got, the compressor I got also says R134a on the label with the Zexel and nissan logo. These are the only two service ports I. One one the line going to or from the reciever/dryer and the other fitting is on the line going to the condensor.I dont recall seeing another service port anywhere, unless its hidden under my turbo , manifold, dump pipe

I just refilled mine today on my 94 r33. I have 1 port at the front then the fill port at the back right up by the firewall beside the heatshield on stock turbo set up. So just find the hard lines coming out of the firewall and you should see it right at the back of your turbo.

K you seem to have 2 high side ports it looks like, the port in the 3rd picture is the same as what i had, from there in should go to the condenser, the other fitting seen better in the second picture does not seem right as mine doesnt have that line at all, the low side port should be closer to the firewall near the condenser as mentioned by evolution.

when you got the compressor did you get the high side line with it?, maybe ment for another vehicle, and could be your missing the proper high side line

                      High side line

                      low side line

and the receiver with high side port (note the little line coming from the condenser on the right)

Okay I found the low side hidden behind the turbo, I missed it back there, I guess I happen to have two high ports on pre reciever before condensor, one after condensor. And now I understand the confustion. Well I am going to replace the valves and take it back to the shop and show them the other fitting hiding behind my top mount.
