  • Question: HKS SSQV - Skyline GTR R32

I tried searching and couldnt really find the answer im looking for!

I'm thinking of getting some hks ssqv bov for my skyline gtr r32.

Want to make sure I have this correct! I can install the adapter to the bov and it will bolt right up to where the existing stock bovs are correct?

Is there a dofference between the black and silver hks ssqv bov?
And will I have any issues or no?
I'll have no issues that these won't be recirculating correct?

Plan to install these this winter!

I don't know about this exact kit personally but if you are running a factory ecu then if you run an atmospheric setup, then you will run rich between shifts. The factory tune takes into account the air coming back from the recirculating valves with the stock setup, and dumps a little extra fuel to make up for it. if there is no air then you have a rich condition. Not a huge deal your not gonna destroy your engine. You may just get some backfire if your banging through the gears and might notice a bit of fouling on your plugs quicker than normal.

Good to know! Thanks, I plan to get it tuned next year. Just unsure what tune to get..

do Not use blow off valves on a gtr, there is a reason why it is recirculated, once a bov is installed the car will stall and not idle correctly.

i have pushed the stock recircs over 500whp, and install after market recirc's on anything above that power goal.

MAF's and Bovs are a bad combination, plus you loose response between shifts with bov's

Tons of people have good luck running one vta (like a ssqv) and leaving one stock one recirculating. This helps with the stalling and running rich.

If I were to install these and then had a tune would that work? Or just stick with stock ones

I would stick with the stock ones personally unless i was running 600whp then i would either run aftermarket recirc's or at that point a haltech management system running map sensor, at which point you can run all the bov's you want.

it would be a bad idea to sacrifice drive ability for a whistle sound.

I moved my bov to right after the turbos before the intercooler and it stopped my stalling issue all together... I guess the intake it still getting a bit of air that's in the intercooler

                      Totally agree with Radek.
My car was running an SSQV when I got it.
I didn't have any driveability issues per say (once underway), but if you gave it a small shot of fuel while just sitting, the idle would drop way down, sometimes stall, sometimes catch itself.
Also, it may have just been an adjustment but letting off from partial boost the valve would not release, causing horrible turbo shuffle.
I like it MUCH better without it (stock setup), plus I hated the sound, which is really the only reason to do this...
