  • weird clicking noises at low speed

whenever im driving my GTR under 10 km/h i can hear constant clicking/squeeking type noise. its more of a metal clicking not electric. almost like the grinding noise the break pads do when they are done. it happens at very low speeds and its more present over uneven surfaces thats why im assuming its related to the drivetrain/suspension

im thinking its comming from the differential/driveshaft and not from the brakes.

i do have aftermarket tein coilovers and crossdrilled brakes if it helps. is it a common problem with our cars?

Check your rear brake rotor dust shields for rubbing against the rotors. If they are just bend away from the rotor with your hand.

jack up the car and spin wheels first, rule out shafts and bearings.
also as said above check your dust sheilds.
check all your fender liners for rubbing of some sort

your best bet is to get the car off the ground and run it in first gear to pin point where the noise is coming from. I do not recommend doing this with jackstands, as its safer on a hoist. However jackstands do in fact work for this type of test and i can't say I've never done it myself.

      be safe and good luck!

CV shafts and boots in perfect condition as are the dust covers and fender liners.
i also want to add that its not a constant noise, it will do few clicks in a row and stop. maybe bushings?

ill get it off the ground for sure though

It's normal to get noise from brakes (especially if have metallic compound brake pads). In some cases brake pad has a tab that touches inner part of rotor and makes the noise you are describing.

Also check back of speedo, as speedo cable can damage bearing inside dash and intermittently clicks (common problem with R32). It can get to the point where it constantly clicks. Usually happens at low speeds, but if bad enough it can be heard when at higher speeds. Put your windows up and the clicking should become louder (it sounds similar to wheelbearing failure), but is from behind dash.

Just because your boots are intact it doesn't mean your CVs are good. Do you hear the clicking when going straight or turning?

My guess would be universal joint(s) are shot. Best way to check is to grease them, if they aren't purging old grease/water/air from all 4 caps, they aren't getting lubed and are probably on their way out. You might have to move the driveshaft a little bit to get all 4 caps purging.
