  • Ignition issues.... ugh

    Hey all

OK so an issue has came up tonight... need some thoughts on this one...

Today I did a engine bay clean. Everything went great. Not sure if this is part or possibly causing the issue or not...

But tonight went for coffee with a friend. Everything was fine. Car ran great etc etc. No issues

I get home after about a 15 min drive. Nothing hard just a casual drive. No boosting nothing

I get home turn the ignition off and car refuses to turn off....

Turbo timer was off. Key was out of the ignition and everything... car refused to turn off... had to stall it out to kill the engine and still doing that all my accessories stayed on. As like the key was set to ignition.

Had to pull the neg battery terminal to kill power. And even after pulling the terminal and putting it back on its as if the ignition was on...

I have not messed with the wiring at all in the ignition area...

Anything in the engine bay that could cause this? Any ideas...

Maybe the turbo timer internals are all wacky? Something else...?

    Heeeeeelllllppppppppp.......

Sounds like your ignition barell might be kecked. Might be worth check what powers you have coming out when the igntion is off?

Stick the key back in the ignition and wiggle it around. Something similar to this happened to me before and that fixed the problem.

OK I think I've narrowed it down to ignition only...

When I turn the key to take it out etc all my after market gauges and radio turn off as per norm.

But engine keeps running, check engine light remains on, ebrake light stays on and the light beside the ebrake light.

        Otherwise everything else turns off....

Failed turbo timer? Maybe try unhooking it's harness.

              OK. Issue solved.

Looks like it was some shotty wiring done previous to me.

Someone tapped into the plugs where the ignition cylinder wiring all goes. There are 2 connectors down there and someone spliced into the harness down past the connector. Once I figured out what the cause was by unplugging those connectors and the car turning off. I just simply cleaned up the wiring and all works like new again.

Turbo timer works. Alarm w/ immobilizer works. Car turning off works. Issue solved.

              Thanks all for the help.
