I recently got my whole car painted all white. The last coat of paint was put on yesterday after noon and its sitting in a shop. At the moment here in (chilliwack) Bc its just below 0 degrees.... the body of the car is pretty cold and paint is still a tad sticky. I want to know by anybody with past experiences of how many hours or days of letting her dry would be safe. I really dont want bugs rocks debris to stick on my car on the way home, cheers!

dont know if you can view that or not its just a picture of the last coat put on drying. I'll get something better once its all finished. And yea I am going to take your word and be safe with letting it dry for a couple days cause it seems like everyone I have asked say rust paint does take a little longer. I just hope its dryer than a dessert by friday-saturday cause there is a big meet over here 60+ cars that I really dont want to miss

No not on that forum. My car is pretty strictly nice weather oriented. But it would be a short drive so maybe if I can grow a pair before then, I might bring her out...lol
Everyone is always looking for a good body man that can hook up some decent deals. I am also one of those people lol, maybe we can meet and you can introduce me to your guy? I'm looking for a complete paint job in the early spring.
Cheers.
Lookin' forward to see those pics!
Brent.

yueaaaaaaaaa...... no offense but please get these cars painted properly. i see enough peices of **** out there.....
if your car wasnt painted in a booth and then baked for at least 30mins you have an issue.
proper paint jobs should not be sticky or tacky once its out of the booth.
If you cant afford a "real" paint job plastidip it or something.
ak autoworks does good work btwLast edited by cooke24; 12-20-2012, 02:16 AM.

Trust me my friend, no one will be coming near my car with a sprayer until I've thoroughly inspected their prior work.
Thanks for your concern though dude!
None the less, I'm very interested to see how this whip turns out! White skylines are very nice!
I will check out AK too!
Cheers,
Brent.

hmmm....thats tough....normally in a shop situation when you paint a car depending on how what kind of paint you used. is it a base and clear together or you based the car a couple coats then clear it? The 2 step process at a shop takes about 5-10 mins per coat and about 45mins bake cycle at 160c. Even then though after the paint is dry you can still feel its soft. So normally we tell people not to wash their car for 24hrs. But if you paint it in a shop thats 0degrees then I would guess the flashoff time wasnt enough so....maybe give it a couple days. Easy trick is to take a piece of paper and put it over a area that can't be seen like undernear the sideskirt or under the bumper and write something on the paper. Then remove paper and see if you see what you wrote. If it bleed through you know your paint/clear is too soft still. hope that helps
