  • How to remove side quarter windows

    As title states

Did some googling and found nothing

Has anyone been able to get these out without breaking them or ruining the seals... I need to apply new silicon in the crevasse as mine are leaking...

    Thoughts?

I would recommend going to a class shop so just in case they break it they pay for it.

    Its one complete piece.

Yes, or buy another set, I tried to get a set out, wasted my time for hours trying to cut out the old sealant, ended up breaking them both, I've seen sets for sale for 80 bucks.

        Well shoot

I would prefer not to spend a huge amount on them... Hence why I would prefer to do then myself. And not have them break on me.

There's always a chance of breaking glass when cutting the seal. And then you will need to make a new seal. There are special tools you can use from long razors to power tools, might be cheaper to pay a glass guy like 50-100 bucks to yank them out. Every glass guy I've known deals in cases of beer as well lol

Glass shops should do it for maybe $80 a pop

Some who DIY use piano wire (I assume with handles on each end). Have one person on inside, one person on outside and drag along the seal to cut it. Window pops out without damage. Would suggest a suction cup tool to hold onto window.

Also the new window sealant they use is better with heat (supposedly doesn't fail) compared to the window sealant they used when car was made. If leaking, they recommend to remove trim seals (there's marks on trim where you put the tools to remove trim) and check for rust and correct, reseal area with sealant (part of routine maintenance and is a common problem on Skylines), refit trim seals. The 1/4 windows require new trim from Nissan.

I would suggest getting a panel beater to do it, as have to repaint around window to make sure area is flat. If not flat and refit windows, car twist's when going into, out of driveways, etc, can crack the window (was warned about this).

Also under wing mirrors (remove them) is another area where Nissan's commonly rust (R32, R33, etc).
