  • Couple of Vipec ECU questions

Car was tuned in Vancouver, ran great when we took it for a test run. Have it at home now, and it seems to run a little rough. Pulled the plugs they were all fouled.

The Vipec ecu should adjust for altitude and air intake temp, correct?
It was tuned and driven at close to sea level, and then trailered home and started again at roughly 1400ft above sea level.

Might have to do some data logging. Should I record all the parameters?

    Thanks

I think like Link ECU, onboard barometric compensation (altitude), MAP sensor (amount of air), IAT sensor for intake temp compensation (I think like Link ECU has, 1x set of maps for hot conditions, 1x set of maps for cold conditions and switches between them).

At higher altitudes there should be less air and engine drops in hp.

Yeah the link and the vipec I have been told are very similar. The MAP and the BAP should have very close readings, around 100kpa I believe at sea level, mine is a lot lower, must be because of the higher alt. Running a external AEM 3.5bar

should be able to compensate for that, plugs are probly fouling from the extra fuel off boost at altitude over sealevel you can turn up the master fuel to change that but may cause top end to lean out, other than that take it somewhere at the level your car will be at to tune it
TO GRIP OR NOT TO GRIP.... THAT IS THE QUESTION

I replaced the plugs, runs much better. pulls hard and under boost and driving the AFR seems to be where it should be. I think on idle its running a bit rich, that's probably where my plugs are getting fouled. What should I be running for spark plugs? right now I have
bkr7e's gapped to .025, should I go a heat range hotter?

          thank you
