Rb20 w/ vtc

I had an idea to use a rb25 intake cam on a rb20 has anyone done modifications to take advantage of the vtc (using a rb25 ecu as well.) Or is getting a rb20 neo just better?

RB25DE NEO has smaller ports than RB25DET NEO head. Not sure if RB20DE NEO has the same problem vs RB20DET head.

Also R34 RB20DE NEO has a throttlebody, 2x intakes to distribute air evenly into intake plenum and not 100% sure, but I think has solid lifter cams, etc, Hitachi CAS (R32 RB20DET is Mitsubishi, so pinouts on CAS plug are different to Hitachi CAS). Mitsubishi CAS is said to be more accurate with ignition timing.

Most with NEO RB25DE mount BOV before throttlebody on intakepiping, fit turbocharged RB25DET NEO parts like exhaust manifold, etc and fit a Link ECU to control it, FMIC, exhaust, etc. Also can run a crank trigger setup from Ross to eliminate the Hitachi CAS that can cause problems. So with the correct mods it is possible.

I guess what I'm asking is it possible to run a rb25 intake cam on a rb20? Can it be made to work? If so how? I would like to have a rb20det with veriable timing control that would be awesome and help spooling bigger turbos and torque tooo.

It's possible, but need a custom oil feed to VVT solenoid, Series 1 RB25DET cambelt cover, Series 1 RB25DET cambelt cover backing plate, ECU to control VVT (internally modified 300ZX ECU or Link, ViPEC ECU), Series 1 RB25DET intake cam (and lifters from RB25DET head to suit RB25DET intake cam). Thinking about it, probably could take the VVT solenoid, backing plate, cambelt cover, cams, lifters, etc off the NEO RB20DE head.

Also HKS sell Vcam which fits on RB26, so it might be possible to fit that kit on RB20DET with a few mods -

Would have to switch backing plate to GTR for GTR front cambelt cover, convert head to Tomei solid lifter, upgrade valvesprings to suit HKS intake cam, HKS exhaust cam for RB20DET + adjustable camgear, etc.

So there's a few ways you could do it.
