  • RB20 won't start. No spark. Help ASAP

So I'm finishing putting my skyline back together and I got fuel and I got crank. I checked the 3 wire plug that is close to the 02 and that has power and I plugged it to the engine wiring harness. And then check if the coil harness has power at the coil and no power. Hope that makes sense. Is it Possible the little black box is no good anymore?? Like what could the problem be? And the ground are good too.

Let me know what to check. Need it running fast.

Could be ignition module (little black box).

Think it could be ruined by falling on the ground lets say a foot above concrete? Like are they that sensitive?

It's a 20 year old piece. Ya it's possible. Easiest way to tell is borrow someone else's and try to start. If it works then we'll you know that's the issue. If it doesn't then ya

Ignition module can take a hit from rubber hammer (can crack the casing if hit ignition module in wrong spot, usually the middle) and still work.

But ignition module has electronics inside (search the forum, as someone showed what's inside via photo's), so probably damaged the circuit board, etc. I was told you can pop the lid (I think like the headlight's, the casing is glued together), repair them. It was said they corrode on the inside and it's what causes them to fail. Some claim they can pull ignition module apart, repair it.

So if you notice the 3 wire plug my test light is on. That has power on the 1 wire. And if
You fallow that plug is goes to the main wiring which fallows the fire wall to the ecu. And seems like from the ecu it comes back to the yellow plug that is supposed to go to the ignitor. But that yellow plug has no power or the orange one and yes the ground is good. It's grounded to the battery to make sure it's good. So it seems the
Black box isn't getting power. Anyone know what to check? I need the car running before the weekend.

Was thinking, does that include the ground on the coilpack? loom that connects to one of the mounts on ignition module?? (I assume that ground is connected to the red wire that runs to battery ground???). I was thinking there's no earth on the other side of ignition module, which goes to the coilpacks (hence wasn't getting power to coilpacks).
