  • Towing AWD skyline need help

I Just recently purchased my first skyline. It is a gts-4 w/ rb26 swap. Im going to pick it
up in a few days and need help with the towing procedure. I know that you cannot
tow an AWD vehicle unless you use a flat bed.. But in my case im planning on renting a dolly,
pick it up and strap on to dolly, then tow back home. Ive looked around and found that
many people disconnect the drive shaft from transmission to rear diff, thus making it
FWD in a sense. They then put front tires on dolly (off ground) and then leave the back
wheels on the ground.... My question is, do any of you know if this will work and not damage
internal components? and does anyone have a procedure i can follow to take off the
drive shaft? again new to the skyline scene and NEED help ASAP, Thanks in advance.

for that much hassle why wouldnt you use a flat bed. Find someone with a car hauler and just borrow it

Flatbed only, why bother with all that extra work?
UHaul also rents car trailers, so you can just drive the car up onto it, and hitch it to any truck.

As long as your car isn't slammed. If it has adjustable ride height, crank her up. Those U-haul trailers aren't really designed for "sporty" vehicles.

One thing you can do is leave the truck attached and crank the hitch jack all the way up to tilt the trailer back, bring some 4' 2x6s and you should be able to get a fairly low vehicle up there. Be mindful of the inside tire guides, the stick up quite a bit.

I rented a uhaul trailer and towed my car about 1200km on it...getting it on was the easy part...getting it off I had to take the front bumper off lol. Oh and also had to get in and out of the car by the window cuz the door wouldnt open far enough to get in or out.
