RB20 trans won't go into reverse

so i purchased an unknown condition tranny off a local and now 3 months later i finally got it installed into my 240 along with an rb20 engine and it will not go into the reverse position. It feels like something is blocking it from going into that gear. i can drive through every single gear no problem just no reverse.
for reference this set up hasn't been driven yet, but clutch has been bled properly and all that

what could be causing this and how do i fix???

i dont remember but does the rb trans ever have a reverse lock out? can you force it to go in reverse?

i can pull on it as hard as i possibly can, to the point of almost bending the shifter arm, and it wont even come down slightly. so weirddd

it doesnt even go in reverse with the car off?

nope and with the car rolling backwards, still nothing
