for me personally, left turns at intersections have never been a problem
in fact, using the S approach, I end up with the same (sometimes better) vantage as most LHD drivers
the S approach means you end up standing parallel to oncoming traffic when you're waiting in the intersection, instead of at an angle to oncoming traffic
you are afforded the best view with the least amount of your car's body sticking out towards the oncoming lane

the only real problem ive encountered is passing large trucks on two-lane highways. gotta have extra patience because you can't see oncoming traffic until half your car is already in the oncoming lane
if anything, theres always the option of a forward looking camera embedded into the passenger side (LHD driver side) mirror =)
