  • ICBC and short VINs

Anyone tried to register a new JDM VIN lately in BC?

I tried to register my R33 Sedan, but their system keeps saying error 980.

Agent called ICBC for override code but, same thing. I do not mind applying for new VIN if I have to.

    Thanks,
    Mark Oliver

last time i tried registering min a few months ago same thing. go to a agent you know or deal with regularly and they can have a agent override it.

Sigh.. i hate the dumb people at ICBC..

ok so this is a normal error that happens with short VIN's.

Its been happening ever since cars with short vins came into the system.

ICBC has a short VIN application form they have to fill out with your information.
they Fax that form, along with a copy of your Form one, Bills of Sale, B15, to the ICBC Registation office in North Van.
That office is only open on weekdays till 4pm.

you cant register short VIN cars on the weekend.

I cant remember the Number of this Form.. but any ICBC agent should be able to use there monkey brain to find it..
Short VIN application form/or no VIN application.

      good luck.
