  • help, turned away at US border

Hi, so I'm from Alberta and just flew to Ontario to buy a modified gtr but after getting temp 10 day registration to drive it home the car was denied entry into the US. I really want to take it through Ohio because I was planning to have a mini vacation with my dad's side of the family.

Is there anyway I can get the car in for a few days?

Ran into a local enthusiast at a timmy and he's offered to do a safety locally if my uncle in Cambridge is willing to get it registered in his name to get a plate. Does this sound possible? The borders main argument for not letting it in is the fact that it didn't have a safety and because it didn't meet the Ontario standard, then the US standard also wouldn't be met. I see their point.

So the US border will let you drive a car that is not in your name into and through the US with insurance from where?
      Ontario insurance or Alberta insurance?
I think your still gonna get trouble.
Maybe better to go the long way around ...

If I was the border guard and you tried to enter with a Skyline on a temp license I would suspect you're trying to drive down to sell it.

        Just get it plated.

Yeah, they also thought I was going to sell it or street race it. I don't blame them but common, they could call all the numbers in my phone and not find one person that would think I would street race. I'm going to visit family and literally tour Amish country with them.

Probably will end up storing the car on Canadian side and rent a car to visit family. My uncle runs a Toyota plant in Iowa and would kill to see this car though

Most Temp permits dont allow the car to be driven internationally..

that could also be a factor.
