  • R34 DOT Questions

Hey guys. Wondering if any of you know if the R34 headlights are DOT/SAE or stamped to be approved in B.C.
Ive seen a few R34's insured already with OEM headlights, and read in a few places that they have some kind of approval stamp, not sure what that entails though.

Any input would be great. Including a USDM counterpart ( like the 2001 maxima headlight? maybe ) candidate for a swap would be nice.

    Thanks in advance

If they are DOT they will be pointing the wrong direction. I wonder if they can be opened up and fabricated to face the right way.

Yep they point the wrong way like any JPN import. They can be opened for sure, idk about modifications though. They dont say DOT or SAE on the lens though. Maybe somewhere else on the unit?

I see a few cruising around with insurance plates so im pretty sure theres a way to pass them...

The stamping is required to be on the Lense.. and its not..

any stamping on the housing isnt valid. and im pretty sure its not there.

most people just swap in something that works for the inspection and then go back to stock afterwards..

or else they have a BC inspector that doesnt care.

Didn't work very well. The side pieces do not fit. Perhaps the lamp + a side piece from a different car will work...
Going to get it passed for now then take a crack at this puzzle later on.
                              1998 BTW
