  • Importing a chassis with no engine

here is my question. Would it be any "easier" to take a GTR (R33) into the USA if it was just a rolling chassis? basically, my plan would be to take the engine out in canada and carry it across the border. Then, some weeks later, try to bring just the chassis on a trailer across the border myself as well.

Is there any documentation on this subject?

I'm just curious if anyone has heard of this happening or knows how or why this could or couldn't happen. Any help on the subject is greatly appreciated. I am new to the importation game.

Before anyone says it... I have already done some searches on the subject and came up with almost nothing

    Thanks

Bringing in a chassis and engine separately and putting them together is a violation of EPA kit car laws unless it's certified to meet Federal import laws for a fully assembled vehicle: http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/kitcar.htm

      Section 1, 2 and 6
