  • Corvette ZR1 beats GTR at the ring

I remember when I said in a thread about the ZR1 going to be able to beat the GTR at the Nurburgring and JZ, among others said that it wasn't going to happen and that I was stupid to think that adding a few more CF parts and a blower to a Vette is enough to do it....well I guess it is enough.

that interior looks like it's from the 1990's.

He looks to be fighting the car alot, but good on them. It will only spark more competition. Don't forget though, the ZR1 is Chevys 'high performance' Corvette, Nissan still has the V-Spec coming out.

V-Spec has been sighted at the 'Ring, and it unofficially beat the ZR-1's time by a second.

The cars can't be compared... rear wheel drive, 6.2L Supercharged V8 @ 3100ish lbs vs AWD 3.8L TT V6 @ 3600lbs? The cars are very different. The Z06 was a closer match for the GTR, whereas the ZR1 blows the doors off it.

Bet the GTR felt a lot more comfortable doing those times than the ZR1 did.
          Oh... and wrong section.

I wouldn't quite say that.. the performance figures can be comparable, and the GT-R does some things a lot better than the ZR1, and vice versa.

i only need to say one thing about this topic...

Ill roll any day in a Nissan over any Domestic car, i dont care if it beats it by 2 seconds on a 1/4, or 10sec on a track!

              GTR ftw!

^ +1 NISSAN FTMFW 8) ....now, who's game for dialing up the boost on the GTR haha ? It's kind of funny because this ZR-1 is Chevrolet's most prized model of Corvette lol, the GTR was a base model, now that the V-Spec is coming along in developments...that car will be a car no ZR-1 can touch 8) ! Look at the driver of the Vette, he smacks his hand on the steering wheel out of anger afew times throughout the video when the car starts to go haywire on its own, as I assumed, the ZR-1 is incredibly hard to handle. But, down to the line...even if the GTR is "slower" , I'd take a Nissan over an American product any day!

If you watch both videos at the same time, the zr1 starts timing at a differeent spot then the GTR. not that it makes that huge a difference but the split turns out to be an about a second slower on the vette. so its time would be 1:27 or something

Apparently, the ZR-1 would have run faster if it wasn't in a headwind on the long straightaway. Still, the cars are of near equal weight, and the Corvette needed 200-something extra horsepower to beat the GT-R BASE MODEL by a second?

Nissan has banked so much money on the GTR, they won't give up anything.
With all the knowledge and resources they have, they will always win.
                          At least IMO!

I really, after all of this, don't even care, even if the ZR1 Vette could beat the GTR by 10 minutes, I'd still grab a GTR. The GTR is still nicer all around, more comfortable, better sounding (IMO), just a better car in general, a 2 or 3 second gap is peanuts, not like im going to be racing a ZR1 anytime soon. Nissan GTR still destroys the ZR1, in my opinion anyway.

In reality the ZR-1 isn't very much more powerful than the GTR. It is rated at a realistic 620 crank hp, where as the GTR is way more than 480 crank from what I have read.

Totally different cars in my opinion.
