  • Racing at Suzuka Circuit

April 29 was the first of this year's bi-annual Group Of Speed Sports Suzuka Circuit Jamboree.
TunerLab was invited out as usual, and we participated with about 200 other cars. I finished with a best time of 2:47, good for 15th out of 42 cars in my group. This is an improvement of 5 seconds over my best time last year, so I'm quite happy with it. I was looking forward to improving on this time in the second session, but couldn't beat it due to heavy traffic and a full course yellow.
All in all it was a great day, with a WIDE variety of cars participating, and everyone had a blast as usual.
Here are some pics of the day:

Just arrived, with my friend Chris from J Motors and his beautiful ECR34 w/ GTR front end

The yellow Opel went home in pieces after a nasty tangle with a BMW on the track.

Just before racing started a bride and groom showed up and started taking pictures in the pit lane lol. Racing fans perhaps?

One guy owns both the Ferrari and R35, lucky fellow

Fantastic pictures Daryl! I wish I could have been there! I hope to make it to one of those events someday! I got to work out a few things with my GT-R before she could be ready for the track thought!

Car looks great with the TE37's. Vast improvement over the R34 wheels.

I have Bridgestone RE01Rs right now, they are good, and nicely predictable, I was able to slide the car a little without losing control at all. It's a good feeling at Suzuka, because we come into the first turn at about 225-230km/hr, so it's nice to know just how far you can push the tires through the turn. When they are toast I'll be using AD08s or maybe grab a set of used S tires...

Next time, can't wait to see you come out! Next GSS event is Sept., but there should be some other events throughout the summer as well.

Thanks, I love 'em I think TE37 are the true GT-R wheel. My main motivation for changing was that I wanted 17" wheels. Much lighter, and the tires are drastically cheaper. Works better all around.

By the way, it is not Nissan purple, it is an after market paint, that changes shades in the sun, very beautiful colours.
Here is a video of it from Fuji Speedway that I took. The owner is a very good customer of Auto Select in Osaka, and he was at the HKS Premium day with Auto Select. I was in their paddock as well, so I could take this video. The owner is the man in the white suit, he jsut got out of the car after a bunch of laps. The younger of the two Auto Select brothers (owners) has just gotten in and is going to take it out for a few laps. The sound this car makes is incredible.
