  • Some cool pictures from when I was in Japan. Old photos. Some, very funny! :)

I was originally making a reply to the `rest in pieces`thread. But figured i make a new post.

Here is something I did back in 2005. It was fun.

I must have took a thousand swings at this R32.

Throwing all the CA18`s in the trash after all the SR conversions. Was before you could import a 1991. Must have got around 20 sr swaps the time i was with worldcarLink.

This thing threw cars like tossing a Frisbee.

A bunch of half cuts i sent to Idaho, was several DC2`s, 32 GTR, roadster, MR2, DA6`s and some evo`s ect. hehe

I got this car from an ex-yakuza gang member. I found some switch blades in the glove box. Thats what im holding on the top of the fork lift. :P

Before I cut this MR2 i was yanking out the stupid coolant pipe that goes to the back from the front, pulled it right into my face and split my gums open above my top front teeth.

I just finished stripping it. Needed to get into the trunk to get out the battery. Didnt want to get off the fork lift so i decided to jam the fork into the rear trunk just above the bumper. The latch in those cars are strong. I was lifting the car ten feet in the air, jamming the car down several times to pry it open. Finally it did but when it gave way, the spoiler on the trunk flew about a hundred feet in the air right into the sun. Never seen that spoiler again.

My only friends in Japan were Brazilians. They didnt know any English till i told them all the bad words. Anyways. I think they were running a chop shop at one point. I walk in one day and I see this s15 all cut up. It had a ton of gear on it.

My friend drove this car. Was a 33 4 dr with single turbo RB26. I sold him a s15 after he smashed it, he dropped in a 2JZ, painted it green and drove in D1 with evolution motors sponsor. I think he is in Jail or deported back to Brazil now last I heard.

I even got a mean cut in my arm while chopping an R32 for Canada:

JDM stitches . Cost me 19,000 jpy to get 7 or 8 stitches. After my first trip there I didnt get insurance. Bad move

I got a ton more pictures from jap land. Id like to go back again one of these days if the exchange ever gets better. if this was entertaining I can post more, but these are the `good ones`imo

Fair enough. I'll post a few other pix from canada. Some that remind me of good times

This is my fav lunch spot. Bento man. Had a friend and a couple clients from Australia with me. The meals here were amazing imo. Id always get some sort of chicken curry. Cost around 600jpy.

This was breakfast. I had a Japanese bakery just down the street from me. You need to know what to pick out tho. sometimes the pastry would be filled with mayo and corn or this gorse snot looking crap called nutto. This one was strawberry filling in a bun.

I would always find either non turbo cars or automatic turbo cars to build for my customers back then. So with that said, here was my monthly run to the scrapper to toss all the CA18 non turbo's. good thing they are made of iron :P

I actually brought that yellow welder with me from canada. Princess auto deca 180E. had to take it apart, put it in 2 suitcases, then re assemble when i got to japan. This way I didnt need to hire the teamsters at the wharf to weld my car racks for container shippment or any of my less than container load crates like you see in these two pictures:

Since i had a yard to work at with a container dock I got to load all my own cars properly. With the 100+ cars with all the different brokers buying them, we never had a scratch on one car. Id always be in Canada and unload them myself as well.

Here is another pic of that busted R33 4 dr rb26:

This was about a 5 min drive from the yard I worked at. Someone actually lived in that mess :S

Super expensive oil at up garage:

This is your typical JDM bathroom in an apartment. My friend has now 4 kids, himself and his wife. Must be around 530 sq feet apartment. I slept at the yard in case any bossozuka (punk wanna be yakuza) wanted to steal anything from the yard in the middle of the night, or the Africans trying to steal any diesel engines from the trucks we had. And that was actually a problem. i had to scare some Brazilian punks away with a baseball bat twice. anyways, bathroom:

              filled up:

Me in it. Its deep. i loved it. Was like a hot tub.

I had this aus customer, you can see two of them in the bento man pic. The one kid there was a brat from hell. Spoiled big time his whole life. His dad took him to japan to pack a container of anythign they could find really. His kid had this white evo. His old mad was kinda a nut case too. we had some problems with money transactions so before they could find all the parts to fill a small cube we just ended up throwing all the crap they baught into it and sent it off. Anways, his kid wanted me to cut this evo in half so he could weld it together in Aus, Had to be a perfect cut. FUC* that. I used the car shortly after they left to house anything that was on the ground in my way. In this pic, it was a RB25 with me pretending to take a poo on it :P

Me and friends at planet hollywood in down town nagoya.

Morning shave before cutting an aristo in half:

                Upside down 2JZ :P

This guy i know had this 34 done with around 600ps. Nothing too crazy for that place tho. I think it was a chop shop of some sorts. They had a few 800hp R32's there as well.

This is a crappy pic of the yard i worked at. the 20' container on the bottom left was fitted with windows, sliding door, bunck bed, microwave, hot water and even heat and A/C. That was my home every trip. I called it the Hall Hilton. named after my friend.

Since I lived at a yard with no running water, I had to travel a few blocks at night to a circle K for doing #2 and picking up any late night snacks. Normally pokey stix and a tall bud

2 of the trips I did I would buy a K truck for myself to drive around when i was there, then id ship it to canada, sell it and usually have my trip paid for and my transportation taken care of. sounds lame, but i would rather bomb around in a carry truck than a skyline in japan any day. This one only had a hair over 7k km when i got it.

Me just driving around picking up parts and going to the wharf on a friday afternoon to catch the nightly port drifting. sorry no pix. most of them are gone from my old comps blowing their hard drives. Lucky I got these ones. I think im on the nagoya ring or the 401. Its basiclly a hwy 50 feet in the air. Cost 500jpy to get on it.

                looks like this from under:

im not even sure what this place was, just thought it was cool. Was a block away from the yard. I bought a flying air plane from toys r us in nagoya, took it there with a aussie friend. I flew it on top of that building and had to climb the roof in the back to get it. Cops showed up shortly after :S

Up garage. Always good deals there but you need to be there in person. i used to do up garage runs weekly to buy parts. Sometimes find 100jpy strut bars and 500jpy exhausts. lol.

VIP cresta in the parking lot.

my first rb30 I put together:

Down town nagoya. tall building is train station. Lots of interesting people there always.

                  Shin-kan-sen?? bullet train.

                  NO POOP!

nagoya port, where all the cars and containers go:

Taihei tire. Formally called red sheds. About a block away from nagoya port drifting. This is a massive massive building, made from containers. lots of the aftermarket parts from the wreckers go to this place (or used to, assume still does). Places like this own the majority of the used aftermarket, same with up garage. Some wreckers you go to wont even sell you anything because they are in contract with shops like those.

second level is all wheels. Anything you can think of. tens of thousands, literally.

bottom level is aftermarket parts. Each container was a different manufacturer.

                    over heating :P

Some randoms of me drifting my old rb26 gtst. This is in Edmonton. Japan pix are over. I had a ton of the USS and USSR auctions, showing joy stick bidding ect but they are all lost

Some from DMCC east pro season. I was a mechanic for toyo that yr. Was alot of BS but still a good time. I was the only mechanic for the one rookie driver. Got 4th overall with three podiums. Had to do a RB25 trans conversion in a parking lot. Sneaking parts on planes thanks to chris VG, blown turbo, electrical problems. Pretty much went through it all and still did better than Hedeki and his big budget and R34 all pimped. and we only had a lousy 10K. Had to drive across canada and the US. Good times I did get to have a crazy expensive dinner with japans toyo President. James from toyo canada is also a awesome guy and all the guys out east were awesome!

Im the one on the right. I`m normally wearing dirty cloths cuz im the only one working and didnt have time to get pretty wearing toyo jersey`s like the rest.

It was 4 trips, each one to one and a half long. I kept my tickets on 3 months open but after a month there was work to do back in canada. Id fly back with suitcase full of parts (70lbs each X2) plus my 25 lbs carry on which usually had coil packs and air flow meters plus a small garbage bag of other parts. Id leave all my cloths in japan cuz Id have like $2000 worth in air flow meters take up its space, so it eas worth it then to buy new cloths. I once brought back a 15" alum wheel. Id always get cornered by the TSA thugs. My last trip I made it to vancouver but then they realized I had coil packs. Everything else was up to max weight so I had to hire a porter to send them to Lethbridge for me.

The wheels at tiehei tire are nuts. It must be 300 feet by 70 or so feet with all those racks just full Most of the prices were pretty high tho. I only ever got a few sets of wheels from there. It was down stairs under the wheels that all the cool parts were at.

Def an adventure. Glad you guys like
