The cover vent looks cool, but I dunno how much cooling they offer without an air draft going through em. IMHO, once coil pack and harness are upgraded/maintained, they fair ok with the heat, it's the ignitor that always buggers out from the heat anyways.

The ignitors still lasted 20 years....not too bad if you ask me.

I was apprehensive about removing cover. Didn't know what to do with ignitor... hang on firewall? So I just cut the entire cover off except for the part that the ignitor mounts to.

Didn't notice a diff, but as far as I'm aware I have original coilpacks, so it might extend life a bit. Wouldn't recommend if you have a giant vent in your hood though.

In Japan they usually just bolt the ignitor to one of the valve cover bolts when they remove the cover. I saw that pretty often when I was shopping for my car 4 years ago.

I deleted my ignitor but can't decide how to vent the cover nicely and safely as I have a vented hood... I set up with 2 small electric fans (rewired to suite the low volts and high temp but damn the cover looks nicer as it is...

also should be noted thats its not the best idea to run with he cover off if you have a vented hood.
