    In the end, you need to check with your sanctioning body. If it is solo type event, M usually works, anything with a cage *often* requires SA in Canada. Many bodies accept overseas sanctioning bodies approvals if equal or greater testing but again, check. I rallied for years and I used open faced Bell Mag 4, decent price, good for rally cuz if you loose your intercom you can still yell!
    I will be picking up a closed face SA for next year probably from rallysport.ca but there are many suppliers. He happens to supply local road racing as well.

        I use a zamp helmet...it's snell sa2005 and cost me 215 tx. in. might look for that....

        exactly this one http://www.zamp-racing.net/auto-FSA1.html

        the differerence with the motorbike(dot or snell M) and car racing helmet(snell SA) is that the snell SA helmet can hit a roll cage lots of time and still protect your head but the dot or snell M is not good after one impact so it's not good for car racing...

          What the difference between the Snell SA2005 approved and the Snell M2005? I'm looking at getting a helmet from Jegs, they have a big selection there but they have the two different types there and they're both DOT. Like what does SA and M stand for?

            SA=Special application = Racing that requires a roll cage etc
            M=Motorcycle = solo etc

              Pretty sure SA helmets have more fire resistance than M helmets (if M helmets have any at all, not like you're going to STAY on a burning bike); if I recall correctly.

                          I just went helmet shopping with 4 other guys who have been racing for between 4-20 years. We all tried on several different helmets and each one of us bought a different brand. We all complained in some way about the fit of one or another. It just goes to show that you need to try on a helmet before buying. I had my heart set on the HJC helmet but It was so uncomfortable for me. Just because a helmet is more expensive doesn't mean it'll fit better. I looked at the Stilo helmets and Stand 21(off the shelf) and they run between $600and $1500 and were uncomfortable.
