I have been looking at the nt01 and the r888's.

Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

I have been looking at the r888 in the following sizes;
275/35/18
295/30/18

the nt01 has less choice size wise.
i was looking at the 275/35/18, the 315 the can also supply would be just over flush which would not be preferable.

What other r compounds can i look at. I have half price with michelin, are the pilot sport cups any good?

In Calgary, the v710's are the choice but that was before the R888 came out. I am thinking im going to run the R888 for this year in solo 1. the v710's come up to temp quickly butI dont think they will be as good at the R888 for heavier cars.

The V710s are an autox tire. Full on track will eat them up quickly.

Hoosier R6 are an option. They have a large size selection. They are a full on track tire. BFG R1 are supposed to be more predictable and sharper turning than the R6. R1's have a good size selection as well.

The Pilot Sport Cup get raves from just about every source I come across, but they are probably the most expensive as well.

I have looked into prices for the pilot sport cups as i came across their reviews not long after making this thread. They have poor cold performance and wet compared to the r888 though or so the reviews go on some various boards.

I have a friend who is running v710's, not what i am looking for. They are a dedicated lapping tire in my books.

Most of the guys running R-compounds at autox, use V710's. They swear by them.

Most of the reviews I read about the V710 say don't use them on the track because they wear out incredibly fast compared to A6, R6, A048, R1 and Sport Cup.

I haven't heard much about the R888's. Are they to replace the Toyo R1?

The Toyo R888 is replacing the RA1. Iam looking for lap day tires. I dont need it to last 15 laps at a time, just quick up to temp then cool down after.

This is why the fastest cars were running the v710's. I have just been a Toyo guy since I was racing. Toyo has treated me well.

I am strongly considering A6's.

they come in the size i need and have a nice price tag.
Might just have to try a set out

I have heard good things about the A6's. They have greater ultimate grip than alot of comparible tires, but let go quickly when they reach their limit. Steering response is supposed to be excellent. It was recommended by auto x users to keep a spray bottle handy, as when they get too hot they become quite greesy. It is the second most used DOT competition tire by VMSC members. I think it is due to the fact that the V710s are cheaper.

One memeber used the R6's but said they took way to long to heat up at autox events. It is more of a track day tire.

The wheels are not here yet so i wont be using them for some time.
