  • RHD Switched to LHD - Is it a Sin

So as the title suggests how badly would I be looked down upon if I purchased an rb26dett r33 and changed it to LHD? The reason I ask is I think it would be much easier to get insurance and I would be more comfortable driving on the left side of the car.

Also, typically are there problems that can arise after doing said mod?

So flame suit on. Fire away.

Alot of work for nothing. Insurance will still view the car according to the vin, as a Skyline. If you say it was changed to be LHD, then according the insurance company the car has been modified and they wont touch it.

Driving RHD isnt that hard at all, it just takes a few days to get used to.

There will be alot of Headaches, ive seen it done on an r32 using S13 interior, steering rack ect. But that was for a track only car. it doesn't look pretty but works well.

This way or don't bother, imo.

But yes, they will consider the car "modified", and still view it as a skyline. Won't be any easier to get insurance. Not to mention rhd is no big deal, I don't even think about driving it anymore, and I don't have to think about driving lhd, they both feel natural, all it takes is time.

honestly, I have driven some serious exotic cars lambo, ferrari Porsche..and RHD get more attention..

my experience is women don't comment on cars..
but all I get in a skyline is...hey are you from Europe??

Thanks for the responses all. I will definitely try driving the GTR on the right and see how it goes. I'm actually left handed so I don't think it will be a problem and like most of you said it will just take time. But it's nice to have that option availlable.

If you can drive a car you can drive rhd
I've driven in Europe, south east Asia and in places where your on the other side of the road an on the other side of the car
You won't have an issue driving on the same roads you've driven your whole driving career being on the other side of the car
I have lent my car to friends just so they can get over the initial shock of it
It's like learning to drive standard for the first time. It's foreign at first then becomes second nature
Do not convert it to LHD. That's like taking a bangin set of titties and removing them to an A cup :|

Im left handed too, dont worry you'll pick it up in no time. Felt natural using my left hand to shift

And whatever you do....dont listen to anyone if they dont drive a RHD or if they drove their friends once upon a time. Anyone that constantly drives a RHD will tell you its no biggie, left turns be a little more cautious but ive rarely had to wait till yellow, my amount of vision is fairly good if you dont rush into the middle of the intersection and keep your distance.

Right hand turns are more fun
Highway on ramps are more fun (I like being on the inside of the apex)
                    Parallel parking is non existent
Left turns have never been an issue. Safety is patience.

Nothing wrong with lhd skyline. We're in Canada, not Japan so it obviously makes more sense to drive a lhd (less danger zones, like passing in a rhd... Yuck)

I wanted to do this (in case the laws change sooner than later about banning rhd) but the cost was more than what a skyline costs so w/e

Man!! I am having such a hard time even just getting a quote for a GTR. The one I did get was $5000 per year! WTF! I'm 42 with a perfect driving record. This is an absolute joke.

                              lol who cares.
Its a car put 24 rims on it if you want it;s yours.
There is/was a white LHD gts-t in toronto a couple years back from the UEA(i think)
its cool, but i mean kinda pointless waste of cash.
But what ever floats your boat.
