  • friday night at race city

last friday went down to race city in calgary to see what my gtr would run
and i was lauching at about 4000 to 5000 rpm and was running about 14.1
then towards the end of the night i tried launching from about 6500 and i ran about 13.9
i only have hks exhuast from turbo back and a hks intercooler, stock boost. I was happy with the 13.9 i was only exspecting about a 14.1

do you have a twin plate clutch??

such hard launches will kill your clutch fast watch out

    good times you got there

What MPH did you get? What was your 60' time?

      Post up the full slip.

alway thought the GTR would be faster, like 13.5 or 13.6...must be the weight...

        Still, it's a good start

they were when they were out of the factory

thee a claim that a 13.0s run was acheived back in the early 90 with a completly GTR

but that was with a car that didn't have 15 years + of driving

so 13.9 is still good I figure

was it a hot humid day/night. ive made close to 1 sec better times on better air, without any mods or tuning.

that is on a turbo civic not a gtr. but turbo is turbo.

You were happy with a 13.9? That's what im aiming for in my gts-t, right now it's doing 14.4's with just intake & exhaust.

Some guys don't "live their life a 1/4 mile at a time", and are just happy to be racing. And for a 15 year old car to do .2 slower than dead stock and brand new?? I would be very happy....

well i was lying about the clutch thing, the clutch was not in the best shape
in the first place, the clutch grabbed later in the clutch pedal travel, then it should.
the clutch also chattered when shifting into second it would continue to chatter all the way through that gear and into third.
I had said that the clutch was still strong, but actually after i wrote that the next day on my way in to work, i went to pass some cars and the rpms flared up the car did not accel, and then is just got worse, so at the moment it is in my shop getting a clutch, at the end of this season i am going to try again.
I am going to launch it hard again and see what i can run, i also had over a half tank a gas

                              1.9 on the 60 foot is only so/so for a GT-R.

Every tenth at the 60 foot is about 2 tenths at the 1/4 mile.

So if you can get it down to a 1.8 , you should run a 13.7.

Very stock GT-R's , can and will go in the 1.7's for the 60 foot, so that would bring you down to a 13.5.

The mph - 98-99 is a little on the light side also. I expect to see fairly stock cars in the 102-104 mph range.

6500 rpms is a good place to launch a stockish GT-R. Any less and it will just bog off the line.
