Here's a little update - just finished up the Prologue Day - the 510 is running great.
First timed stage was Flatrock (4.61km.) which we did in 2:30 - 7th fastest of the entire field and 2nd in Unlimited class behing Pat Richard (WRX/STi) who did it in 2:29 (one lousy second darnit).
Second stage was Pleasantville (3.24 km.) which we did in 2:57 - 11th fastest overall and again 2nd in Unlimited behind Pat Richard who did it in 2:43. I misread an acute left and lost some momentum leading into an uphill climb which cost me some momentum.
These stages don't count but are used to determine the starting order for the competitive portion of the rally tomorrow (next five days) - we will be starting in 10th.
The car is working beautifully so we are pleased with the result so far. I'll try and give you updates as we go through the week.
A great day today for us. I don't have the results yet but the car ran flawlessly. Probably still somewhere in the top 2-3 of my class. One stage of note was the long 40km. road along the west side of the Avalon Penninsula leading up into Placentia. Nothing like drifting around long sweepers alonside the Atlantic Ocean at speeds in excess of 200kph. What a trip!!! We'e in Gander for the overnight and then onto Day 2. We lost a few cars today already. Pat Richard blew the motor in his Sti in a big way, Ernie (Mantis Racing) mashed the front of his Cayman S so he is out ... etc. etc.
Day 2 just finished up. The car is holding up fantastically - ran great all day. We did four really fast stages (Point Leamington to Leading Tickles in both directions) and Norris Harbour both ways as well as another 3 new stages.
Tomorrow is going to be a wet day - apparently the hurricane sweeping up the east coast is going to make land in Newfoundland tonight. The rally will continue regardless of conditions!!
