Have you ever tought about good reasons NOT to drag race or lap with a GTR/S ??

I own a Pulsar GTiR and a GTS-T type M. I don't drag nor lap and I proly will not in the future either. Main reason for me: hard to find parts. If the parts were cheap AND availabe I would possibly reconsider... but for now I take good care of them because I want to ride a long time without waiting 2-3 months for parts.

For the records, I also own another car that sees the drag strip quite often. If I broke something on my Honda, it takes only a day or two to get the replacements.

Like Ti Pit said "Tracking my cars or not does not make me more of a man."

    my two cents

lol I don't race mine because I can't afford the repir bills. I spent a ton of money on a mint GTR. If I was gonna race it I'd have bought an $8000 GTR and put in $12,000 worth of upgrades in it. I drive it to work everyday and just like to have a bit of fun from time to time without loosing my licence.

      Also... I'm a pu ssy... 8)

you guys seriously need to grow up with the whole GTR owners should be tracking/lapping their cars!? WTH? Where in the manual does it say "DISCLAIMER: THIS CAR IS ONLY FOR THE TRACK...IF YOU USE IT AS A DAILY DRIVER, YOU'RE A ***** SO EAT A D*CK".
        Right..

maybe some of you guys have to consider the monetary aspect of tracking. I don't know about you guys, but I can't afford to keep replacing parts here and there. I have enough in case something breaks down and of course for maintenance, but to keep buying tires and other misc parts...no thanks.

I personally use mine as a daily driver and I want it to last as long as possible. I don't see anything wrong with that. But hey, if you feel manlier cause you take your car to the track, I say good on you! To each his own.

Everytime you take a car to the track ,you'll have to accept the possiblity that you'll take it home destroyed. Unless you can afford to buy a couple of GTRs , it's probably not a great idea to race them. When I say race ,I don't mean the odd lapping day, I'm talking about door to door racing.
If you use the car for double duty, better have a another car for the week after a bad race weekend. This is the reason that you'll see alot of inexpensive cars being used in local sedan races. I been racing on and off since 1989. I remember a particular weekend when the owner of a WRX STI balled it up, and was sitting on the sidelines crying.

If you guys are so worried about wrecking the skyline and how parts are hard to get then why daily drive it either. Shouldnt it then be reserved to garage status and only weekend driver. I dunno, what do you need the performance for on the street, the only place you can actually use a gtr is on the track, its a shame to not take it on the track in my opinion. You can never know what it can do, and for what you can do on the street, why not just buy something newer and not as fast? It will do the same DD job as you guys say is so important, and its cheaper on gas, parts, etc. Why even get the gtr at all....for cheaper you could have a gts4 that looks like a gtr and then you can have the same effect.....throw some gtr badges on it and you could put some more money into chrome 20's and bov's.

Actually, mine isn't even a daily driver as I take the Subway to work as the parking in downtown Toronto is just ridiculous. Even if it was a 'daily' driver, I doubt you'll destroy your car just as quickly as if it was being tracked. The purpose of tracking your car is to push your car to its limits right? Opus is right...I mean if you're tracking your car...you have to accept the fact that your car might not even make it home. I'm sorry but i'm not one of those people to 'accept' that.

And why can't we use the GTR for street use only? I don't see why we HAVE to take it to the track. So what about the people with Porche's and Ferrari's, are they only limited to the track too? Should STI owners leave their car for the Rally circuit? If that's the case, then we should all just buy Toyota Corollas for our daily drivers. I personally wanted a GTR cause i've been enamored with the car since God knows when. And the fact that it was finally obtainable, I made sure I had to get one. And fortunately for me, I found one of the mintest GTR's out there. Also, I like the fact that I have the power when I do need it...or when I wanna have some fun on the highway. I'm sure others feel the same way as I do...they get it cause it's pretty much their dream car. I don't see anything wrong with that.

And sorry...there'll be no chrome going into my car, nor a Bov..

The GTR is a skyline, which is a family people mover, the gtr just has tons of technology injected into it. So don't diss the people who want a really fast car for daily driving. They don't have to take it to the track to prove anything. If only track people wanted fast powerfull cars there wouldn't be a market for cars like the BMW M5, and the boys and girls at nissan would have never put any RandD into the skyline in the first place. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday, the classic marketing behind NASCAR, it's also the same reason race versions of sedans like the skyline exist. If people didn't want to have fun with their daily driver the only race cars would be open wheel. You can enjoy power on the street, and if someone wanted a flashy car to pick up chicks they wouldn't pick a skyline, looking at the JDM options they'd pick the RX-7 TT that you can get for less than a GTR. Most girls I know would be more impressed with an expensive NEW car than an old cheap GTR.

Now personally If your GTR has to be a daily driver you'd be foolish to take it to every track day and drive it at the 110% it may or may not be able to handle. At one track day last year I had to help out an audi quattro coupe owner who's throttle cable broke. We ended up zip tying the linkage together. If i hadn't brought my tool kit he would have been f$%*ed. If you want to have fun with a track car, get a trailer. That's what my gtr will be doing, towing my race car this summer so if anything happens to it i can still drive home. And yes, the gtr will make many laps, but only at 80%

my thoughts exactly...**** man buying a car to look at it what kind of a moron does this...wow look i'm JDM cool i have a GTR with 500hp....i never use it but i have it so your rice...man people in Montreal are idiots and 99% of GTR owners dont even work on there cars them selves...wow such a shame

i'm not saying i'm better then everyone...cuz most the millage i put on my GTR's are daily driven miles...but i track my GTR's sometimes to have fun...use them for what they where built....

Man, I must be wierd or something. I bought my GT-R for ONLY track use, no plans to ever register it for the road. I can't imagine why anyone would want to drive one of these things on the road everyday as a daily driver here in LHD land (especially in traffic around the GTA).

you guys just need to hold on till R33 GTR's sell in canada in the 20k-30k price bracket, and R32 GTR's are so common that people have 2 or 3 of em.

then sit back n watch the fun begin.
