I bought the car as a project, finished it, had it inspected, and put back on the road last September.
To pass the Body Integrity Inspection I replaced the locks, headlights, front crash bar, rad, front bumper was repaired, rad support was straightened, and was sent in for a 4 wheel alignment. It was put on the frame machine and it was determined that no frame repair was required.
In addition to that I did a bunch of maintenance to pass a safety inspection:
- Coolant flush
- Oil and filter change
- Spark plugs changed
- Brake rotors replaced (pads in box need to be installed)
- Steering rack dust boots replaced
- Front tie rods replaced
- Both inner CV dust boot replaced
- 4 wheel Alignment
- New battery
- New HID lowbeams
- New front pipe and exhaust gaskets to fix exhaust leak
- Blown struts replaced with lower mileage Apexi coilovers
- New tension rods
Car runs and drives fine. Interior is in good condition especially for it's age. Didn't have a single problem with it on the 2500km drive when I moved out to Vancouver last fall, and has been my daily driver since then.
I also just had $2500 worth of body work done to the car at Candy Autobody. They fixed a dent in the fender, and repaired and resprayed the front bumper to match better.
The Bad:
- Rebuilt title
- Turbo seals on the way out (exhaust gets smoky in boost)
- Usual drivers side seat flat on side bolster
- No floor mats
- Project mu 2 piece rotors + hawk pad combo makes for some loud brakes
