  • GROUP BUY: RIPS Aluminium Reservoir Replacements

I have been back in touch with Rob, as my Oil Pan arrived and is simply beautiful....
His welding and fabricating skills rival that of a Robot and do not look 'human' welded...lol...they are so clean.
Functional as well as accurate and also great looking in the process. It is simply ART.

Anyways....so I wanted to get more product from him while our CAD $$ was still killing the NZD (currently $1,000 NZD = $690 CAD approximately as of December 4, 2008 )
See here for current rates: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

    Anyways, the topic here is:

RIPS Aluminium Reservoir Replacements - R32 Skyline GT-R
(although GTS-T may fit as well...someone else can confirm, as I have a GT-R)
    www.ripsltd.com or www.ripsracing.com

    - Washer Fluid Reservoir (OEM Replacement Location) nzd $700 (twin motor) - approx. $480 CAD

    - Radiator/Water Overflow Tank (OEM Replacement Location) nzd $500 - approx. $350 CAD

    - Power Steering Reservoir (Relocation to avoid turbo piping…possibly to front RAD support ?) nzd $500 - approx. $350 CAD

    - Oil Catch tank (slim line, in front of OEM Battery similar to pre-existing designs) nzd $600 with 2 x -12 weld ons and at least 1 x 35mm necked filter. - approx. $410 CAD

** Shipping per piece if purchased on their own nzd $95 - approx. $65 CAD

Package deal of nzd $2150 incl shipping for 1 set. (Regular nzd $2300 + shipping - saving approx. nzd $530) - approx. $1470 CAD

Group buy of 3 sets nzd $5850 incl shipping (nzd $1950 set) - approx. $1340 CAD

Group buy for 5 sets nzd $9250 incl shipping (nzd $ 1850 set) - approx. $1270 CAD

Group buy for 10 sets nzd $17000 incl shipping (nzd $ 1700 set) - approx. $1165 CAD

All shipping is included to Calgary from what I understand, additional shipping elsewhere will be extra once it arrives here.

As far as what the items look like, they will be OEM replcements for the most part and you can trust Rob as he is fitting an R32 currently for this project.

In terms of the look/finish, please see the following from the RIPS 'Stealth Bomber'.

If anyone is interested in getting in on this, or piggybacking a different order with this to save some cash, post here. Everything quoted above is for either UNTOUCHED Aluminium or 'Satin Finish' and NOT polished/chrome. ** Special requirements may require adjusted pricing.

At the end of the day, it would be nice to show some support for RIPS and maybe even get Rob to sign up around here as a member. I personally believe He is first and foremost regarded as the 'RB30 Authority' in the English Speaking and Internet world for Skylines/RB30's and his Custom and "1-off" work speaks for itself. He also has many past/current and I am sure, future projects, as well as cars of his own, time slips, dyno sheets and Customer cars to back this up. It would be nice to have him around here and make it worth his time, as WE All would benefit from his knowledge a great deal, more so than any other single dealer that I can think of off hand because of his dedication not only to his craft, but also experience and customer support.

    Thanks.
    Allan

He is a member of this forum.

                Here's his profile (RIPSNZ) -

As far as I know it's his mate that works for him that does the welding. I think his mate has a motorsport background.

They spend hours and hours on those pieces. Good quality parts take time.

Hey Allan, I might be interested......what additional equipment would be required? (mainly I'm thinking for the oil catch tank, lines will be needed.....beyond that I'm guessing not much?)

Also is there any chance I can get the dimensions (I'll try to compare pictures with my engine bay tonight)....I have a red top optima battery and just want to make sure things will fit okay.

Also, I'm guessing that the group buy prices only drop for the sets? Only asking this as I probably won't be changing the Power Steering reservoir, but if you do get 10 people I might as well buy the whole set. Again, I'll have to take a better look at the engine bay....I'm a "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" kind of guy, and I don't believe I've had problems with the current location yet

This is perfect timing as I need to do a coolant change in the spring! Lots of work to be done when it warms up a little (or during random chinooks).

I'll stay off the list until I do some more research...and decide if I want the whole set or only some pieces.

Edit: Not sure how this is going to work, here's a picture of my engine bay (link). I'll see what sort of room there is but I'm not sure how the oil catch can will fit.....might have to email him for dimensions.

I will contact Rob and get some dimensions of some of the items, but probably not till after Xmas, as I am sure we are all a bit busy to care right now anyways.
