  • GB: Coilpack cover machining (RB26)

so, ever wanted to cure the coilpack heatsoak problem on your RB26?

finding it pretty ugly without any coilpack cover?

well, i thought of the perfect solution, machine slots in the cover..
this way your can keep the cover on, which looks great, and let the coilpack breathe fresh air

    i had mine done earlier this summer ;

and i got CobraA's done not too long ago

the cover may need to be repainted afterwards, because the machining almost certainly chips the paint around the slots

now i have an agreement with the machine shop who did the first 2 covers,
he kept the CNC program (based on my drawings - i used to be a machinist) and has kept the machine setup

if i bring him 5+ covers, he will significantly drop the price of the machining per cover (since he can do them all at once)

the price as its stands, for 5 covers, is 90$ / cover

i'd like to see who is interested, and when i get at least 5, i'll ask everyone to ship me their cover (pretty cheap to ship via canada post), have then done and ship them back

a charge of 5$ should be added to ship the cover back (eastern canada) or 10$ (western canada)
no charge for those dropping/picking up the cover at my place

once i receive all the covers, i should take max 2,5 weeks for you to have it back (including shipment), for those local, it would be within a week of so

i already have 2 interested, ready to give me their cover

    1. allwheeldrifter
    2. max-gtr
    3.
    4.
    5.
    6.

p.s. the more covers i get machined, the cheaper it will be per cover (i will send the over-funds back)

another design would be an extra ~20$
since i have to make the design, do the technical drawing, and the machine shop as to make another program

anything can be done with more $ imo

Sounds good. The cover in the pictures would be too wide open for me Let me make some drawings and see if it's doable.

What would it cost to add an extra hole? I like the design but I would like to add an extra hole in the front of the coil pack cover, lengthwise like so:

I think this could introduce more flow. Intake from the front, and out from the rear holes like your Francois

I have mine painted, if I did this would it need to be repainted after? I'm assuming yes but this would be a sweet addition
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

it will almost certainly chip the paint around the edges of the slots

mine was going to paint anyway, and cobraa's was polished (no paint)

judge for yourself, this is what it looked like right after machining (pic file got f'ed up)
