Skylab Torque Splitter Controller
What is it and what does it do?
The Skylab Torque Splitter is simple / cheap and a very effective unit, that works with all skylines with a 4WD System (ATTESA). The ATTESA in stock form will actually reduce torque to the front wheels while the car is under acceleration through corners. The harder / faster you accelerate while cornering, the less the torque is submitted to the front wheels!
Though having the GTR tail happy at times can be fun, it’s not always ideal, and can become more of an issue in the rain.
With the Skylab Torque Splitter Controller (TSC) you can manually adjust settings to transfer a little more power to the front wheels. The handling of the car can be changed from power over steer to power under steer, ideally you want to find the best setting for the road conditions & have a perfectly balanced setup.
The TSC has 9 settings and an on/off switch. With the TSC set to max (9) it will allow up to 50% torque to the front wheels. The creator of the unit suggests setting (4) for dry conditions and (8 for wet conditions. The TSC does not pre-set the amount of front torque like some other controller units do. It’s not designed for drag strip use, it is strictly a corning aid and its ideal for both road and track uses.
With the unit in my car I have the dial set to (4) and the switch on off. When I feel like some fast turns in dry condition I just turn the switch on. Though I haven’t had a chance to try this unit on the track, I’ve played with in on the streets, and I can definitely tell, I will be saving some seconds on the race track.
Installation: -
The TSC is an easy install, should take less then 1hour. You have to remove the e-brake plastic console to access the g-sensor. The TSC comes with a good meter of wiring for lots of mounting options. Also comes with a full detailed instructions sheet.
Pricing:
The TSC was designed and developed from a GTR.UK Member, and the Units are currently being sold through GTR.UK Online Store.
If you have a paid GTROC membership ($60 cost) the TSC cost $225 cnd plus postage. If you do not have a paid GTROC membership the TSC cost $250 plus postage from the UK ($20).
Now I’m offering all GTRCANADA members this unit at special pricing $199 cnd taxes in. plus postage (let’s say $10 Canada wide / Canada Post Express w/ tracking #)
The turn around time on these units are currently being discussed
I plan to sell these units at this discounted price, till the end of August
My first set purchase date from the supplier is the 2nd week of July. But if we can come up with 5 buyers before that date, I can summit the purchase earlier.
