So Lambo, Audi, Porsche are doing it wrong? Even the R35 has staggered fitment wheels. O.D. is the only concern.

Sorry, free bump for nice wheels.

The r32 r33 and r34 and not engineered to use a staggered set. The suspension geometry does not lend itself to it.

It's a misconception that only the rolling diameter is important , so is the distance outer lip to outer lip on the same axle .

It doesnt take much to throw out the ackerman angle on the front with incorrect rim sizing , you'll notice this at the track for sure.

And a properly sized staggered set of wheels would address that concern. I guess I'm starting up the old staggered debate in this poor guys for sale ad and I apologize. Plenty of na sayers and plenty of people with properly sized staggered wheels with absolutely zero issues.

I guess my response is more directed to the original statement that AWD cars should not be staggered.

From my research, the R32 should not be staggered, not all AWD cars. Correction.

Rim size should have no effect on the Ackerman angle as it is part of the alignment. As you know the outer wheels on your car have to travel farther than the inside wheels during a turn. Thus they have to rotate more to keep up with the inner wheels. That is why we have diffs front and rear to allow the difference in rotational speeds. Hook a scan tool up and monitor abs sensor speeds on each wheel and youll see what I'm talking about. Rim sizing will not change steering angle in any way shape or form. All it does is cause that nasty fender liner rubbing noise. Running on different sized rims like 17front 18rear for example would be a huge issue for an AWD as it will tear apart a transfer case. I've seen it in person, not a pretty site, lol.
