3" is good for 500whp, I made 507whp on my rb25 with a T70 turbo and 3" all the way back. New set up is an rb30 with a sx400 turbo my goal is 1000whp and I plan to run 4" all the way back.

It's more about happy turbos than power output. You can make an easy 500 whp with a 3" exhaust, its just that your EGTs will be much higher than they should be. 4" to 7" won't get you any better spool but 3" to 4" sure will, turbos will be much cooler......the noise will drive you batshit though. My 3.5" is a dronefest with TWO resonators and a rear muffler. That's with the plug out, muffler plug in, its not too bad....costs me about 300hp though.

My new 4" will be a straight pipe all the way but where the rear muffler would be I'm going to have a 4" cutout valve with a by-pass just ahead of it in 1.75". In the by-pass will be a 10" bullet muffler dumping out the side just ahead of the rear bumper. Cutout closed, all goes through the bybass, should be about the same as I have now with the plug in. Open it up and its 4" all the way with no mufflin' at all......BAAWHAAAAAAAA.......

      Jon.

      1990 GTR Drag Special T88H34D 11.24 @ 127.55mph at only 1.2bar...... officially. SOLD

          Jon.
That should work Jon. Think about hemholtz chambers and oval piping too. 4" sits about 3" off the ground on my car. Not great for a street car.
          oh hai!
