It's an all out GT500 race block. It has magical powers.

Well, maybe not, but it is specially developed to work in conjunction with 87mm pistons and the GT crank for 2.8L of displacement.

It probably has more cylinder wall thickness then a OEM, and possible 24U block, at 87mm bore...

Creme of the crop rb26 block.

                  rough numbers
05U - 92 MM between outside of the bore liner
                  24U - (N1) = 95MM little bit of gallery changes
RRR - (GT) = 98MM which has some fancy dancy things inside

Though i can only guarantee the 05U number.
I would not be surprised if there was a 8k reserve.

$1600 USD and Reserve still not met......

There is however 1 problem that people here should consider. It is something that I have had the privilage to have learned in the past month or so and continue to be reminded of it, some days up to 2 times a day, or more.

Because this block is on Ebay, it must be a Nismo block that didn't pass quality control, or is a knock off or possibly fake, or is from a 'bad batch', or was constructed using sub-standard materials and even though, it may be consecutively serial numbered, it has a lesser quality than the 1 before it and the one after it and it probably doesn't maintain 'trueness' throughout it's bores and journal sections.... and that is why it is on Ebay.

                      Touché...

People sell anything on ebay. I've already been outbid, didn't stay long. Good deal if it stays below 8k?

Is this block really worth that much ? $8,000 ?
                        If so, that's insane.....

Well, the timing is wrong for me... if this was 3-4 months down the road I'd be all over it (not up to 8k though lol) but I'm building my shop right now...

People have got as much as 7.5k gbp for a rrr block.
they are very much sought after all over the globe.

Simply being a number of unused rrr blocks showed up in Australia this past year. though the listing says 2500 blocks were run i do believe the actual number was less then that, i had a magazine somewhere that went into rrr's.

Being such a low volume and designed specifically for Nismo and nissan racing teams it would only make sense that the quality control was top notch. They would be shooting themselves in the foot otherwise.

If your wondering how much better the 2.8 litre capacity is (power, torque), here is a dynograph comparing a GTR 2.6 litre bottomend to GTR 2.8 litre bottomend with the same turbo, etc -

2.6 litre vs 2.8 litre dyno graph

                              Boost graph

The 2.6 litre supposedly has better throttle response, which I don't think a dyno graph can measure.
