You know the amount of work and money into swapping all that stuff into a shell is not worth the work? We're not talking about a 1966 GT40 CAV here... Unless you don't care about all the nice stuff that can be done (like dipping and painting or seam welding). If you're just slapping parts on the thing that I guess it wouldn't be too expensive if you do it yourself.

PS, it's not a solid car if it has a rotten underbody. Probably has issues. Unlike body work, you can't see what an engine is like inside. You can have perfect conpression and have rod bolts ready to leap.

id imagine its more of a fun thing for him to put his gtr together himself, rather than just strictly the money saving aspect.

then again, if this is the case, you might also want to rethink, because its ALOT more work than you think, and alot of things can go wrong :P

It's lots of work. You're gonna need LOTS of help and motivation. Especially if you are not so mechanically inclined.

I've found out the hard way that it is a lot of work, i've got a sedan sitting in my garage right now that hasnt budged in 3 months. All I'm looking for is a clean shell. anything else is bonus. I'll be able to make do with the rest of the stuff, I've got a near complete GTSt as well as close friends with gtr parts galore, all I want is a stock car for now that I can drive to school once in a while. I dont mind the work, ive got 21 hrs of class and about 3hrs of volunteering a week, the rest is fair game for building.

taking apart a parts car and putting a car back together with parts cars are 2 completely different things... its a good learning experience though.

and ps: you should keep your apex'i catback, they're one of the nicest sounding exhausts out there. unless you want to get yourself a titanium one,

Have you thought of working during your spare time? That would get you the car faster. Working is one of the easiest and most proven ways to get rich or be well off so to speak. If I realized I couldn't afford something, I'd work more and save. Next thing you know, you have all sorts of stuff if you play your cards right. Buying a sports car while you're in school isn't the best way to do it IMO. Then again, I wouldn't know, I was never really a student . I have friends that bought sports cars in school and struggled to put gas in it and sometimes it would sit for months cause they couldn't afford to fix it. They're priorities were out to lunch though. a few of them are almost 30 and still live and their mom's lol. Some even get repo'd or have nasty nasty credit. Least they have that "dream" car though.

Well Im on my way through school now and support the honda without any loans, and without working through school. I go for my inital testing for my local police service in the morning, once I have everything sorted out there, I will look into work (if I do not get selected for a position). I have recently stumbled across a different deal through a friend...if only my tax refund came sooner.

thank god Hondas are cheap. Tax return lol I wish it was enough for good stuff. I don't get much back since my bracket is too high I buy into rrsp's which whatever I get usually or add to my tax free savings accounts.

thankfully as a student I'm able to claim pretty close to all of the 29% taken from me. with 15k+ made before taxes, yippee.

Hey bro, I gotta say you have a passion and you got ballz. I am like you, a student and like to own a gtr (hopefully one day), but I am not so mechanically "smart" and that always put me down lol....I hope I can be like you putting cars together n ****....Anyway, good luck with this and hopefully it works out u

thanks dude. Ive wanted one for a long time now, no mechanical background at all. I got a GTSt with the hopes of fixing it up but after thinking about it, it wouldve took too much money and took me further from one day owning a gtr.

keep fighting for it man, just take it from me cause we dont seem to far apart on this one. wait it out. if you've gotta stretch every dollar you have to make it work, it wont work. get your schooling settled, get a reliable daily driver, then save for the GTR on the side. Ive had many chances to buy over the years but held off because I knew it would screw me financially, and now I am very grateful.
