Hi vtknight, that's me indeed Great video, I've followed your build and feedback threads on NAGTROC, your car is phenomenal. Switzer is becoming synonymous with incredible power and quality, it's great to see such a robust aftermarket in place for the R35s.

I really appreciate your feedback -thank-you - I chose Switzer after having met them when I got my P600 installed. They really are awesome people - who also happen to deliver a solid product.

My understanding is that they will be offering their products here shortly - I shouldn't say anything until it is officially announced - but I will say that I know who the main GTR Tech will be and he is amazing.

The track was closed both days due to rain and poor turn-out - luckily I was warned before I took the trip down there to find out the hard way.

Next week - at least Sunday - looks to have some potential. I will open a drag strip thread soon once the weather warms up...

Also - I will be putting together a GTR meet for the GTA soon - I usually run four or five a summer - I know you're from Vancouver, but if you happen to be in the area, you are more than welcome to come out - we usually get about 16 GTR's and then go for a cruise. I will extend this to the Skyline owners as well...

- but to say that a car - manufactured by Nissan - given the R35 designation by Nissan - given the name GTR by Nissan - and representing Nissan as its Halo car as the next in the GTR's generation isn't a true GTR - is - well - very silly.

Lol - I never said that the R35 was a Skyline - just a GTR. The Skyline designation was dropped as I stated above to the G37 in Japan.

In another thread others have felt that the R35 was not a "real" GTR due to its lack of inline 6, clutch pedal and Skyline name. I disagree.

I have a manual 370Z that I love just for the third pedal (and will likely always have a manual car until they are no more) - but - there is something to be said about DCT's - especially when it comes to high powered builds. No matter how skilled you are - you are going to leave a sizeable chunk of your performance on the track - specifically with drag racing. Even the Vette boys and other US manual cars - when they get above 800-1000 whp tend to purchase the specialized tranny's that you simply pull towards you (and without a clutch) - because its faster. I know many on this site are road course guys - and the manual has a special feel - but the DCT keeps you very focused on the track -and in my humble opinion - allows you to go faster as you have less to worry about.

Again - I know its not all about the numbers - but I have gone quite fast with the R35 GTR at the track and it is anything but boring...

The good news for me is - your opinion has no impact whatsoever as to how I feel about my car - nor what it is capable of.

That sounds great, if I make it out to Toronto this summer I'll definitely drop you a PM, as I'd love to check out some of the east coast GTRs, and most definitely yours. The same of course extends to you if you're ever out in Vancouver

I appreciate the invite...It's funny that although most of Switzers customers are in the US and abroad, the first R1K was in Vancouver (Goush).
Now there is one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast.

I would love to take my car to Race the Base in Alberta - but its so damn far. I really thought about trailering it up there...who knows...

lol my joke was misinterpreted. that was my failed attempt at mocking current forum life; and how there are 8 pages dedicated to peoples personal feelings on whether or not its a skyline or a gtr....for those who know me, I'm the last person who would stir stuff up. I have never driven one, im just a kid that likes skylines.

That is good to know. Unfortunately I am new here and seem to have walked into some controversy - so I really didn't know where you were coming from.

I don't get the strife either - I just love cars; Skyline GTR's and GTR's without the Skyline in their names.

I'm going to keep doing my thing - but as you pointed out - there are some people on here that are really unhappy about the R35 and can't seem to let it go.

I go to the track (Cayuga) - all the time - if you're there and the crazy Tech that hates imports isn't there - I will give you a ride down the 1/4...it's pretty fun.

As long as it's Nissan's trophy car of the current age and its demolishing competition while looking stylish, I think it's doing it's job and continuing the "Skyline" legacy whether or not it has the name.

The GTS-T's havent crushed too many records, if any at all, so what's to say about those? They are skylines and I can imagine are incredibly fun to drive but they have the name, no attessa, and a bunch of different capabilities.

The new GTR carries on a new form of Attesa, crushes any car in or around its category, and is still the Nissan trophy car.

The new GTR is a driving machine and is meant to crush records and put down insane times, just like the old Skyline GTR did. Whether or not it's manual is irrelevant, I still think it's fan boys just getting their panties in a bunch about not feeling "special" anymore. We own a piece of motorsports history, thats enough to keep me happy.

If you drive a GT-R just to get around town because it's expensive, then sure you can be considered a douche bag. Then theres people like vtknight who have a blast in their car, modify it, and rip the **** out of tracks and 1/4's.
As long as it makes you everytime you drive, then there should be no question about it not continuing the "skyline" legacy.

I really appreciate your feedback and couldn't agree with you more. If someone acts all hoity toity - they're a douche. If they are enjoying the car and are a true entusiast - it's different.

Technology changes. Even if Nissan made the R35 a manual - the R36 would not have been.
Nissan made a choice to lead the world in technology.
Their rear-ward mounted awd attesa transmission with DCT was the first of its kind in the world and it was GERMAN made.
That is ballsy.
Now everyone has a DCT in both 6 and 7 speeds. As I said - I also have a manual car - and I will hopefully always have one.
The DCT is still alot of fun to drive - and there is something to be said about being able to use the full potential of your car.
As I said earlier - even the high-power build domestic guys - Vette's and Mustangs - are using the manumatic shifters as it maximizes the HP you have in your car in regards to performance.
It really depends on what purpose you have for your car.

I can say that I seriously don't mind the DCT when I am beating cars down the track. Here's one at my Switzer P600 level (about 520 awhp);

I'm proud of the Nissan Skyline and R3X heritage and look to uphold it on the track.
