Question about repair pricing.

Okay so I have a 2007 Nissan Sentra. It was never driven much before I bought it so it only has around 40,000 miles. My car started making a lot of noise and the muffler was rattling so I took it to a shop and they told me it would be $700 to fix it. Is this really how much it would cost to fix something like this?
